Star Wars Outlaws Hate Forces YouTuber To Combat “Toxic” Community

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I’ve seen it all – from the golden days of 8-bit gaming to the immersive VR experiences of today. Yet, nothing quite prepared me for the tumultuous waters of the Star Wars community.

The ongoing clash over values on the internet has ensnared Ubisoft’s upcoming Star Wars Outlaws, as it finds itself caught in the crossfire. Following a recent surge of criticism from self-proclaimed fans over positive remarks about the game, YouTuber Bombastic has taken a stand against the franchise’s problematic fanbase.

Back in August, I got a sneak peek at Star Wars Outlaws courtesy of Bombastic’s video preview. After putting a few hours into the upcoming game, I must say, it’s been an exhilarating journey so far! Unfortunately, following my positive remarks about the game, some critics took to attacking me for expressing my enthusiasm.

As a dedicated Star Wars enthusiast and content creator, I recently took to my channel to address an issue that’s been weighing heavily on our community: the overwhelming negativity within our fanbase. I believe we can do better, and here’s why…

Bombastic vs The Fandom Menace

“Bombastic commented, ‘I’ve never witnessed the Star Wars fanbase as active and divisive as it is currently.’ He continued, ‘I’ve never encountered such intense scrutiny over personal opinions about Star Wars, especially when those opinions are honestly held. It’s disappointing.'”

The YouTube personality shared his observation that both Star Wars fans and gaming communities have grown increasingly hostile over the past few years.

“When I see Star Wars and gaming environments growing more hostile and people starting to bully each other, it’s really disappointing for everyone,” they expressed.

In response to criticism following a sneak peek of Star Wars Outlaws on YouTube, the influencer was accused of receiving payments from Ubisoft to present a more favorable review. However, in a statement to fans, Bombastic clarified that Ubisoft had not influenced their coverage by altering it for any increased positivity.

“The people I’ve collaborated with have consistently advised me to be truthful, and none of them has ever asked me to alter my views to fit a particular narrative. Therefore, the opinions I express about Star Wars Outlaws are genuinely mine, not influenced by payment or any fear of losing opportunities from companies like Ubisoft.”

“For some time now, I’ve been sharing brief videos featuring Star Wars Outlaws. Some viewers suspect that Ubisoft is paying me for these posts and requires their approval before they are published. Frankly, I don’t have the patience for such a process,” they expressed.

Regrettably, the Star Wars saga has often been enveloped in debate. To illustrate, the prequel trilogy, which is now widely appreciated, was initially one of the most criticized series on the internet. Currently, it’s the Star Wars Outlaws that tends to draw the brunt of this criticism online.

In our Star Wars Outlaws review, we portray the game in a favorable manner. In our initial assessment, we suggested it might deliver “all that we’ve hoped for” from a game in this cherished franchise. Yet, whether Ubisoft will successfully launch this promising-looking action title remains to be seen.
