Netflix is adding 31 new movies and shows this week (Aug. 18, 2024)

As someone who’s been through countless hours of supernatural series, I can confidently say that this week on Netflix is a dream come true! With A Discovery of Witches and Interview with the Vampire joining the lineup, it feels like Halloween came early. And as a Sailor Moon fan, the cosmos movie is the cherry on top!

Being an avid TV buff with a particular fondness for AMC’s captivating content, I am beyond thrilled about the latest developments! As someone who’s spent countless hours engrossed in their exceptional storytelling, I can hardly contain my excitement as we embark on a fresh new week. The news that AMC shows will be gracing Netflix is like striking gold for me, and it feels as though they’ve handpicked some of their most popular gems just for me!

Kicking off this week is the television show “A Discovery of Witches,” seasons 1-3! This series, adapted from Deborah Harkness’s widely acclaimed book series, made its debut on TV screens back in 2019 and garnered similar popularity to the books. It will be available for streaming on Netflix starting Monday, Aug. 19, 2024.

The show centers around Teresa Palmer, Matthew Goode, Alex Kingston, Adelle Leonce, and Edward Blumel. It follows the story of historian Diana Bishop, who discovers her magical abilities while unraveling the enigmas connected to the Ashmole 782 artifact. Interestingly, she finds herself drawn into a romantic entanglement with the sworn enemy of witches: a vampire.

Starting August 19th on Netflix, the first season of “Interview with the Vampire” will be available. In this series, Sam Reid, Jacob Anderson, Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian, and Delainey Hayles take on leading roles. The narrative is based on Anne Rice’s book of the same name and delves into the tale of Louis de Pointe du Lac who becomes enthralled by Lestat de Lioncourt, a vampire. The story unfolds in both past and present as Louis shares his story with a journalist, interspersed with flashbacks revealing the events between him and Lestat. For those seeking a unique take on the vampire genre with a queer narrative, this series promises to deliver.

As a long-time fan of Sailor Moon, I am beyond excited that “Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Cosmos The Movie” is finally coming to Netflix this week! Growing up with the original series, I remember staying up late on weekend nights to watch the episodes, and now I can’t wait to see how the story continues in this new movie. From what I’ve heard, it follows Sailor Moon as each one of her friends is targeted by a new enemy, which sounds like a thrilling adventure that will keep me on the edge of my seat. I’m curious to see if she and her team can stop them before they take over the cosmos, and I have no doubt that this movie will be just as captivating and emotional as the series was for me as a child. If you’re a Sailor Moon fan like me, be sure to check it out on Thursday, Aug 22!
