As a die-hard fan of quirky, supernatural comedies, I can’t help but feel a thrill of anticipation as I gaze upon the August 24 lineup on Paramount Plus. The upcoming release of Extra Ordinary, a film that seems to perfectly blend humor with the eerie, is nothing short of a delight for me.
On the release calendar for August 19-25, 2024, Paramount Plus will only be adding a single movie titled “Extra Ordinary” to its TV and film lineup.
On this coming Saturday, August 24th, viewers with a Paramount Plus subscription can catch the intriguing movie “Extra Ordinary” on their streaming platform. Released in 2019, this film was penned and helmed by Mike Ahern and Enda Loughman.
In a unique turn of events, the story revolves around Rose, an unassuming driving instructor, who possesses extraordinary abilities beyond the norm. She grapples with her supernatural gifts and often overlooks spirit-related entreaties from the locals. However, as the narrative unfolds, Rose decides to harness her unusual powers and extraordinary talents to protect Martin’s estranged daughter. The antagonist in this tale is Christian Winter, a fading rockstar who harbors sinister intentions; he seeks to use the girl in a Satanic ritual, hoping it will reignite his waning fame.
In this movie, we have Maeve Higgins playing the role of Rose Dooley, Barry Ward as Martin Martin, Will Forte portraying Christian Winter, Claudia O’Doherty as Claudia Winter, Jamie Beamish acting as Brian Welsh, Terri Chandler as Sailor Dooley, Risteard Cooper as Vincent Dooley, Emma Coleman as Sarah Martin, and Carrie Crowley taking on the character of Marion Mularkey.
Additionally, joining the main characters are Mary McEvoy portraying Janet, Siobhan McSweeney in the role of Noreen, Allison Spittle as herself, and Jed Murray embodying Astaroth, the Demon.
Currently, the movie Extra Ordinary is receiving exceptionally positive feedback, with a Tomatometer score of 98% from critics and 77% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. On Metacritic, it has a metascore of 72 and an audience score of 6.6, which also suggest favorable reviews across the board.
