Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake won’t be at Gamescom 2024, Konami all but confirms

As a seasoned gamer with a heart full of nostalgia for the Metal Gear Solid series, I must admit my disappointment at the news about Gamescom 2024. The anticipation has been building like a coil spring, ready to explode with excitement at the slightest hint of Snake’s return in the Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake. Alas, it seems that we’ll have to wait a bit longer, as Konami is focusing on Yu-Gi-Oh Trading Card game instead.

The Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake is one of the most anticipated games as players cannot wait to step into the shoes of Snake again. For many it’s considered the best of the MGS series, and it is coming back with massively updated visuals and gameplay. Fans are eager to see more, but, unfortunately, Konami has all but confirmed the Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake won’t be at Gamescom 2024.

The date for Gamescom 2024 kicks off on August 21st, meaning it’s not that distant in time. This year promises a remarkable number of exhibitors, and there’s a lot of excitement building up for the Opening Night Live show, which will be helmed by Geoff Keighley. The Opening Night Live is the highlight of the event because it offers a sneak peek into trailers and gameplay demos of upcoming and unannounced games.

Fans had been eagerly anticipating the debut of a Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake after quite some time, but alas, it appears that it won’t materialize. Instead, Konami is set to concentrate solely on one specific game at the upcoming event.

Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake won’t be at Gamescom 2024

As a longtime fan of Konami and the Metal Gear Solid series, I was looking forward to seeing the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 at Gamescom 2024. However, it looks like that won’t be the case as Konami has only confirmed they will be promoting the Yu-Gi-Oh Trading Card game at the event. As someone who grew up playing Metal Gear games and eagerly awaiting each new release, I can’t help but feel a little disappointed by this news. While I understand that companies have to make decisions about what to showcase at events, I hope that we will get more information on the MGS3 remake soon. In the meantime, I’ll be keeping an eye out for any updates and trying to stay positive.

After it was announced that Konami would participate in Gamescom, Wccftech contacted the Japanese company to find out if Metal Gear Solid 3 would make an appearance. Regrettably, Konami’s PR team indicated they will only showcase the popular Yu-Gi-Oh Trading Card game instead.

It appears that the absence of Metal Gear Solid 3 and Silent Hill 2 has been made clear. Given the anticipation surrounding Silent Hill 2, which is slated for release in just under two months, this could come as a shock to some. However, there are whispers of a PlayStation Showcase happening in September. If accurate, it’s probable that these games will be unveiled during Sony’s event.

Regarding Metal Gear Solid 3, there’s a chance it might make an appearance at the PlayStation Showcase, though this isn’t set in stone since reports indicate that it may be postponed until 2025. However, it’s important to note that a delay to next year hasn’t been officially announced; the rumor originates from trusted source Billbil_kun on dealabs.

The remake producer has expressed his wish that it could be a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with Kojima once more for further updates on Metal Gear Solid.
