Tim Burton Reveals How Wednesday Inspired Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

As a long-time admirer of Tim Burton’s distinctive style and whimsical storytelling, I couldn’t be more excited about his return to the world of Beetlejuice! After rekindling his passion for filmmaking through Wednesday, Burton seems to have found the perfect project to reignite the magic that made us all fall in love with his unique cinematic universe.

Directing the initial four episodes of “Wednesday” proved to be a career-boosting move for Tim Burton. During the filming of “Wednesday” in Romania, he rekindled his passion for movie direction, which ultimately led him back to “Beetlejuice.”

On Wednesday, I was reminded of what draws me to crafting items. It felt like filming a movie under TV’s tight production schedule – swift and exhilarating, as Burton expressed to Total Film Magazine. He clarified that their aim wasn’t to produce a follow-up; the concept of franchises hadn’t been discussed at the time. The first instance I encountered the term ‘franchise’, was on Batman Returns, he added, and it gave me an icy shiver.

Burton’s decision to revisit Beetlejuice revolved around one character: Winona Ryder’s Lydia Deetz.

“A strong emotional pull motivated me to take action. Specifically, the character and their experiences after thirty-five years resonated deeply with me – that was what drew me in. Reflecting on my own life, I’ve realized that growing older brings about various changes: having children, facing new challenges. Now, I can relate more deeply because I’ve experienced it myself.”

What to Expect in Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice?

As a longtime fan of Tim Burton’s quirky and imaginative filmmaking, I was thrilled to read the synopsis for “Beetlejuice” sequel. Having grown up watching the original movie multiple times, I can confidently say that it holds a special place in my heart. The idea of exploring the afterlife through the eyes of the rebellious teenage daughter of the Deetz family sounds intriguing and promises to be a fresh take on the beloved story. With the mischievous antics of Beetlejuice returning, I’m eagerly anticipating the chaos and humor that he will undoubtedly bring. Overall, I am excited to see how the film will blend the unique style of Burton with the new generation of characters, and I can hardly wait for its release.

Reprising their roles from Beetlejuice for the sequel are Ryder as Lydia Deetz, Catherine O’Hara as Delia Deetz, and Michael Keaton as Betelgeuse. New additions to the cast include Jenna Ortega, Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, and Willem Dafoe.

As a die-hard gamer, I’m thrilled to share that Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, is set to make its grand debut at the 81st Venice International Film Festival this month! Fasten your seatbelts, folks, because we’ll be hitting the big screens on September 6, 2024. Can’t wait to see what spooky surprises this iconic character has in store for us next!
