When Sridevi got upset over SS Rajamouli tagging her as demanding for the Baahubali issue

As a lifestyle expert with a deep appreciation for the rich tapestry of Indian cinema, I can’t help but reflect on the intriguing saga between Sridevi and SS Rajamouli. Having witnessed their respective careers blossom over the years, it’s fascinating to observe how even the most successful individuals sometimes find themselves at odds in the world of showbiz.

Rajamouli’s acclaimed Baahubali series, headlined by Prabhas, is widely recognized without needing introduction. The movie boasts an impressive ensemble cast of well-known actors. Remarkably, the late Sridevi was intended to join the team and portray the character Sivagami.

Regrettably, a disagreement arose between the diva and the filmmaker, resulting in her not getting the role. In the end, Ramya Krishnan was chosen instead. The dispute intensified when it was revealed that Sridevi’s excessive requests were the cause of her not being involved in the project, as disclosed by director SS Rajamouli.

In 2017, during the publicity for her film Mom, Sridevi later shared her feelings about the situation. During an interview with NTV Telugu, the esteemed actress voiced a mix of surprise and pain over how SS Rajamouli spoke about the supposed demands that led to her stepping down from Baahubali.

In simpler terms, she expressed, “His interview left me stunned and pained. Rajamouli is known for his composure and grace. It was a pleasure collaborating with him. However, the manner in which he addressed that particular topic caused me great disappointment.”

Indeed, it clearly showed the deterioration of the relationship between the filmmaker and the actress, and Sridevi’s disclosure added weight to this, showing just how taken aback she was by SS Rajamouli’s comment.

To clarify for those not familiar, during an earlier conversation with ABN Telugu, director SS Rajamouli explained his decision to cast Ramya Krishnan instead of Sridevi as Sivagami in the Baahubali series.

“Originally, we considered having Sridevi in our movie, but instead opted for Ramya Krishnan. Now, looking back, we are grateful that we decided against Sridevi as Ramya Krishnan has been exceptional and truly exceeded our expectations.”
