As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for Korean dramas and a soft spot for survival games, I must say that the announcement of Squid Game Season 2 is like hitting the jackpot! I remember binge-watching Season 1 last year, my heart pounding in my chest as I cheered for Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) and the other players. The suspense, the drama, the nail-biting action – it was all too addictive!


In the latest video for “Squid Game” Season 2, fresh contestants are invited into the competition, with the talented Lee Jung-jae returning as Gi-hun, or Player 456, who has previously claimed an Emmy Award.

Squid Game Season 2 debuts on Netflix on December 26, with Season 3 releasing sometime in 2025.

What happens in the new Squid Game Season 2 video?

In this brief video, we see several players wearing green uniforms, who have become recognizable by now. Throughout the 48-second reel, various numbers appear: 388, 222, 125, and so forth. However, it is the number 456 that stands out, as it’s Gi-hun’s number. His gaze fixed on the camera, he exudes determination, mirroring the closing scene of Squid Game Season 1 where Gi-hun vowed to take down those responsible for the lethal contests. The teaser concludes with the message: “The final game commences.”

It’s been announced that Squid Game Season 2 will bring back Lee Byung-hun as the Front Man and Gong Yoo as The Recruiter, along with Wi-ha Joon portraying police officer Hwang Jun-ho. In terms of fresh faces taking center stage, the Squid Game Season 2 lineup includes actors such as Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-nuel, Park Sang-hoon, and Yang Dong-geun.

In addition to the existing cast, we have some fresh faces joining the team: Park Gyu-young, Jo Yu-ri, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Lee Jin-uk, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, and Won Ji-an. While details about their characters are being kept secret for now, they will all be introduced as new participants in the high-stakes games.

It’s been officially announced that Squid Game Season 3 will be its final installment, marking the conclusion of the popular South Korean drama series created by Hwang Dong-hyuk. In a remarkable achievement, Hwang became the first Asian to win Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series at the 74th Primetime Emmys. He’ll be returning in his roles as director, writer, and producer for the final season.
