The tale behind my novel, “My Penguin Companion,” is inspired by real events revolving around a unique bond between a person and a penguin. It’s said that this extraordinary penguin travels an astounding 5,000 miles annually, making a special journey to meet its human friend.

“Fisherman João, known internationally as Jean Reno, has withdrawn from society following a devastating event. However, when he stumbles upon an oil-soaked penguin stranded at sea, his natural compassion compels him to save it. Despite the protests of his wife, Adriana Barraza, who was nominated for an Oscar, he not only rescues the bird but cares for it. For the first time in years, João experiences happiness, though he cannot fully comprehend the strong connection that is blossoming. When the penguin mysteriously vanishes back into the vast ocean, João assumes he’ll never see his friend again. Yet, far away, the penguin finds itself in its own perilous journey, using its unique GPS-like abilities to navigate back to where it now calls home.”
