Netflix's One Piece Remake To Be Led By Studio Behind Attack On Titan

As a long-time fanatic of the anime world, I can’t help but feel an electrifying surge of anticipation with the announcement of the One Piece live-action remake by none other than the undisputed champion of modern anime, WIT Studio!

Fans are buzzing with anticipation as they look forward to the real-life adaptation of their cherished anime, One Piece.

Netflix has verified that the production studio for the show is none other than the contemporary master of anime, WIT Studio.

Why WIT Studio?

For more than a decade, WIT Studio has consistently produced hit after hit, with renowned series such as Attack on Titan, Vinland Saga, and Spy x Family adding significantly to their impressive reputation of adapting manga into captivating animated productions.

The updated version of the story, titled “The New One Piece“, aims to retell the classic manga with contemporary visual and production quality. This fresh adaptation is expected to attract new fans who might have been deterred by the extensive nature of the original anime series, consisting of more than 1000 episodes.

The One Piece will be directed by Masashi Koizuka, who was a storyboard artist on Attack on Titan.

On August 10, during a live broadcast, Masashi Koizuka shared that he assumed responsibility for the project personally because he is undeniably the most avid One Piece fan within the entire studio.

I knew that I love One Piece the most in this studio, so I took this project because I didn’t want anyone else working on it. I will definitely create something interesting. Please look forward to it.

He also stated that he plans to make this anime happen for the long run.

I’m facing this as a long series. If the people like what we’ve created, we know we would be creating this in the long-run. I want to continue this for a long period. I want to continue this forever.

I find these declarations exhilarating because nothing beats a director who’s both intimate with the original content and passionate about it.

It’s advantageous indeed that Masashi Koizuka brings a wealth of experience and an impressive history of success from his previous projects in the show business.

What do you think? Will you get into One Piece when the remake finally airs?
