'I can’t see directors like you…': Puri Jagannadh reveals his private conversation with Vijayendra Prasad after Liger's failure

As a seasoned lifestyle expert who has witnessed the ebb and flow of the film industry for decades, I must say that moments like the one shared by Puri Jagannadh are truly heartwarming. Speaking casually, filmmaker Puri Jagannadh, who’s now preparing for the premiere of Double iSmart featuring Ram Pothineni and Sanjay Dutt (alongside others), recently opened up about a story after his previous movie Liger underperformed at the box office.

In recounting the story, it became clear that the filmmaker had been deeply moved when SS Rajamouli’s father, renowned movie maker Vijayendra Prasad, contacted him following the release of their film and asked for a favor. As he shared this experience, his emotions were palpable.

At the event, Puri Jagannadh shared that just a week after his last film (Liger) bombed at the box office, he unexpectedly received a phone call from Vijayendra Prasad. Typically, Prasad doesn’t reach out to him in this manner.

Additionally, the director shared that Vijayendra Prasad requested a favor and asked him to share the story with him before releasing his next movie. The director quoted Vijayendra Prasad as saying, “I can’t bear to see talented directors like you stumble over minor errors.” Emotionally moved by this call, Liger’s director added.

Beyond saying so, I myself am eagerly looking forward to meeting the director of Srivalli once Double iSmart is out in theaters. My unwavering commitment to the success of Double iSmart is evident in every step I take during its production.

For those unfamiliar, Liger featuring Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Pandey was a movie released across India in 2022. Despite considerable anticipation, the action film helmed by Puri Jagannadh underperformed at the box office.

In terms of his professional endeavors, the well-known director is preparing for the debut of his upcoming movie titled “Double Ismart.” This Telugu science fiction action film features Ram Pothineni, Sanjay Dutt, and Kavya Thapar as the main characters. Supporting yet crucial roles are played by Sayaji Shinde, Makarand Deshpande, and Getup Srinu in this production.

Recently, creators unveiled a trailer for their upcoming movie that left viewers quite impressed. The snippets of intense action scenes hint at an engaging storyline and top-notch entertainment.
