Hello there, fellow Star Wars enthusiasts and Disney devotees! As a lifelong fan who has witnessed the rise and fall of many a galaxy far, far away, I must admit that this weekend’s D23 Expo left me with a mix of excitement and confusion.
Welcome to the weekend! Let’s jump into the Saturday edition of Weekend Discussion.
Skeleton in the closet
During the Friday evening D23 Expo, a fresh trailer for the upcoming major Star Wars series was unveiled. And while it may appear distinct, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not good – especially for a franchise as diverse as Star Wars.
Witch is witch
It took until maybe a month before the first episode, but I’m finally more intrigued by this show.
Winners don’t lose
Last night, Pixar unveiled numerous upcoming films, and they didn’t disappoint – they even previewed a sneak peek of their debut series on Disney+.
If they’re tryin’, they’re Lion
Despite some impressive revelations last night, the program concluded with a peek at Mufasa: The Lion King – a movie that leaves me utterly puzzled as to its purpose. There’s nothing enticing about it, and the fresh tunes showcased seem lackluster in comparison to their predecessors.
This movie might not do well because, as far as I know, it’s going to release simultaneously with Sonic the Hedgehog 3 featuring Keanu Reeves as Shadow. I never imagined Sega would outperform Disney in this scenario, but it seems plausible over the weekend.
Weekend Grooves
To mark the exciting news about Disney on Broadway turning The Greatest Showman into a musical (a development that’s hard not to get excited about!), let’s wrap up with Hugh Jackman, shall we?
Alright folks, that wraps up this weekend’s discussion! I’m eager to hear your thoughts and engage with you all in our vibrant Shacknews Chatty comment section.
