A new Pixar movie will be announced tonight at D23, according to company CCO Pete Docter.
At the ongoing D23 event, Doctor was questioned about the collaborative relationships between Pixar and Disney. He explained that these companies frequently lend assistance to each other. Furthermore, Doctor disclosed that Pixar had recently previewed a film which would be officially announced during the Disney Entertainment Showcase panel later tonight.
Disney’s grand entertainment event is scheduled for 7 p.m. Pacific Time. Unfortunately, there won’t be a live broadcast, but rest assured, the latest updates are likely to spread rapidly across the internet soon after the announcement.

What do we know about Pixar’s future plans?
In June, Doctor shared details about Pixar’s upcoming projects with Entertainment Weekly. He disclosed that there were two new movies in the pipeline, one of which is being developed by Coco co-director Adrian Molina, named Elio. Following this, Toy Story 5 is scheduled for release on June 19, 2026. After Toy Story 5, Doctor mentioned that more original films are planned for production.

“Indeed, we will be releasing two new original films soon,” Doctor mentioned. “Following these, you’ll see Toy Story, and more originals to come. There’s still some work needed to achieve the right balance, but it’s an exciting prospect. Let’s catch up in a couple of years; there’s a lot brewing now that I’m quite enthusiastic about.”
Right now, Pixar has scheduled the release of Elio on June 13, 2025, followed by another original, as-yet-unnamed film on March 6, 2026. Toy Story 5 is set to be released on June 19, 2026, after these two films.
