Outlander star joins the cast of Game of Thrones prequel A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

As a gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in the captivating worlds of Outlander and Game of Thrones, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgic excitement at the news of Henry Ashton joining the cast of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Having watched him breathe life into Sandy Hammond in Outlander Season 7A, it’s fascinating to see him rejoin the Westeros universe, albeit with a different character this time around.

Previously, “Outlander” and “Game of Thrones” have shared some acting talent across their productions. A recent link between them is emerging in the upcoming spin-off show of “Game of Thrones,” titled “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.”

Henry Ashton is set to be part of the prequel series, and his character shares a name with one seen in “House of the Dragon,” although it’s not the same individual. Here are some details about his role.

Henry Ashton was in Outlander Season 7A

In case you’re pondering about Ashton’s familiar face, it’s from two episodes of Outlander Season 7A. I was captivated by his portrayal of Sandy Hammond, a comrade-in-arms to William Ransom. The emotional rollercoaster began as we witnessed Sandy meet an untimely and tragic end on the battlefield, right beside William.

As a gamer, I can’t help but recognize him from “My Lady Jane,” where he brought Stan Dudley, the eldest son of Lord Dudley, vividly to life – a character whom Jane initially considered her potential husband. Yet, his talents aren’t confined to historical fiction alone; he also stepped into the role of Max Hastings in “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” on Netflix.

Meet Daeron the Drunken in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

In the upcoming “Game of Thrones” prequel, Ashton takes on the role of Daeron, a character you might remember from “House of the Dragon”. However, this isn’t the same Daeron we saw in “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”. The one known as “The Daring” is different. The Daeron Targaryen that Ashton will portray is referred to as “The Drunken.”

It’s not hard to guess that Daeron takes pleasure in drinking, earning him his given nickname. He is the eldest son of King Maekar I Targaryen, making him the potential ruler of the Seven Kingdoms. However, Daeron isn’t particularly interested in ruling or warfare. Instead, he is renowned for his prophetic dreams, a trait that links him to Helaena Targaryen from “House of the Dragon” and Bryden Rivers, the Three-Eyed Raven.

At this moment, we don’t have a specific date for when A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will be released. However, it’s planned to come out some time in the year 2025.
