As a long-time boxing enthusiast who’s seen my fair share of ring battles, I must say that the trailer for “The Featherweight” has me hooked! Having grown up watching the great Willie Pep in his prime, it’s fascinating to see how this film promises to delve deep into his life beyond the ring.


The trailer for Robert Kolodny’s forthcoming sports biographical drama, titled “The Featherweight,” has just been unveiled. Following the film’s world debut at the 2023 Venice International Film Festival a year ago.

When is The Featherweight release date?

The movie titled “The Featherweight” is set to make its debut in both New York and Connecticut cinemas from September 20th. Subsequently, it will be shown in Los Angeles theaters starting September 27th. After its global premiere, this film boasts a perfect score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer.

The movie is helmed by director Kolodny, who adapted the script penned by Steve Loff. James Madio, known for his role in Band of Brothers, will portray the legendary boxer Willie Pep. Supporting him are Ruby Wolf (Tommy), Keir Gilchrist (Atypical), Stephen Lang (Avatar), Ron Livingston (Loudermilk), and Lawrence Gilliard Jr (One Night in Miami…), as well as undefeated professional boxer Bruce Carrington. The executive producers include Jennifer Davisson, Michael Hampton, Steve James, Brian Liebman, Mark Hantoot, Donna Collins, and Angelo DeFazio. Loff, Madio, Bennett Elliott, Robert Greene, and Asger Hussain serve as producers.
