As a gamer who has been following Euphoria since its debut in 2019, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and trepidation about the upcoming Season 3. Having watched Jules Vaughn, portrayed by Hunter Schafer, navigate her complex journey through high school, it’s heart-wrenching to know that she will be returning under such difficult circumstances. The passing of Angus Cloud and Kevin Turen has left a void in the Euphoria family, and I can only imagine the emotions the cast and crew must be going through.
Hunter Schafer candidly discusses the challenging nature of resuming work on “Euphoria” for its third season, after the unfortunate demise of her fellow cast member Angus Cloud and the executive producer Kevin Turen.
Since Euphoria premiered in 2019, the actress playing Cuckoo has been portraying Jules Vaughn. She acted alongside Cloud, who took on the role of Fezco “Fez” O’Neill. Tragically, Cloud passed away at the age of 25 in 2023, and Turen followed suit later that same year; he was only 44 years old.
Despite encountering numerous obstacles along the way, production on Euphoria’s third season is now in full swing. Yet, creator Samantha Schafer expresses doubts about her ability to return due to recent developments since the initial greenlight for Season 3 was given back in 2022.
In an interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Schafer stated that you’re free to query every member of the cast. Notably, he shared that much has transpired since the unfortunate incidents involving Cloud and Turen.
She went on to say, “I believe everyone harbors some level of excitement regarding the potential for Season 3. Of course, I’m still grappling with what transpired and the loss of people who were dear to us, part of our family. Should we return, that will undoubtedly be challenging.”
Who’s returning in Euphoria Season 3?
Apart from Schafer, it’s confirmed that the main stars of the popular teen drama will be back for Season 3. This lineup includes Zendaya portraying Rue Bennet, Jacob Elordi as Nate Jacobs, Sydney Sweeney as Cassie Howard, Maude Apatow as Lexi Howard, Alexa Demie as Maddy Perez, and others.
The American version of a similar titled Israeli series, “Euphoria delves into the lives of teenagers grappling with relationships, love, substance abuse, sexuality, mental health issues, and the impact of social media.” (Show’s logline)
Seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on Max.
