As a seasoned gamer of both virtual and real-life dramas, I’ve seen my fair share of post-apocalyptic tales. But when it comes to Apple TV+’s “Silo,” it’s a whole new level of immersion that leaves me hooked. The series, based on Hugh Howey’s trilogy, has an intriguing premise – a community living in a giant silo underground, trying to survive while uncovering the secrets of their past.
As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news! Back in June 2023, Apple TV+ made an announcement that left me buzzing – the critically-acclaimed sci-fi dystopian drama “Silo” was renewed for a second season, following its successful first run. I can’t wait to see more of Rebecca Ferguson’s captivating performance, and let’s not forget Avi Nash, who graced our screens in “The Walking Dead.”
Graham Yost, famed for the shows “Justified” and movies like “Speed” and “Broken Arrow,” developed a series called “Silo.” Originally based on Hugh Howey’s trilogy of novels, “Wool,” “Sift,” and “Dust,” this series was initially conceived in 2012 but put on hold. In 2021, Apple TV+ picked up the project for further development.
Apple TV+ has set November 15, 2024, as the premiere date for the second season of “Silo” during their San Diego Comic-Con panel. Attendees included Ferguson, an executive producer for the series, Common who stars, the showrunner and creator Graham, author Howey who is also an executive producer. Additionally, it was announced that Steve Zahn will join the cast in season 2, making a surprise appearance at the SDCC panel.
In a bleak future scenario, the narrative of Silo revolves around a society inhabited by just 10,000 humans, living deep underground in a colossal 144-level silo a mile below the Earth’s surface to shield them from harmful substances and lethal elements on the surface. The reasons for the silo’s construction remain unknown, but as secrets unfold, they pose deadly consequences for some.
For the first season of the show, we’ve added Rashida Jones, David Oyelowo, Tim Robbins, Harriet Walter, Rick Gomez, and Chinaza Uche to our main cast. The recurring actors in this season are Will Patton, Ferdinand Kingsley, Shane McRae, Billy Postlethwaite, Chipo Chung, and Iain Glen. Some of these performers will rejoin us for the next season as well.
As a dedicated fan of dystopian fiction, I can’t contain my excitement for the upcoming ten-part season of “Silo” on Apple TV+, set to debut on November 15. Having grown up reading the novels that inspired this series, I remember feeling a deep sense of anticipation each week as new episodes were released. The thought of experiencing this captivating story once more, but now with high-quality production values and a talented cast, is truly enthralling.
What else does Avi Nash star in?
Nash is widely recognized for his character Siddiq on The Walking Dead, where he was initially rescued by Carl (played by Chandler Riggs) and later functioned as a physician within the communities. In season 10, however, he met an unfortunate end at the hands of Whisperer Dante (portrayed by Juan Javier Cardenas), who had been covertly admitted to Alexandria under Alpha’s (Samantha Morton) instructions.
In the opening episode of season 6 titled “Joan Is Awful” on Black Mirror, we recently saw the appearance of Nash. The story revolves around a woman who is taken aback when she finds out that her life has been turned into a series by a popular streaming service, with actress Salma Hayek playing her part. In addition to Nash, the cast includes Annie Murphy, Salma Hayek, Michael Cera, Himesh Patel, Rob Delaney, and Ben Barnes.
Apart from The Walking Dead, he’s also featured in Laetitia Colombani’s film titled “The Braid.” This movie is an adaptation of her novel by the same name, exploring the story of three women who, despite never meeting, share a profound and distinct connection. Interestingly, this film was co-starred with Lennie James, another actor from The Walking Dead. In a unique twist, “There, There” – a romantic comedy filmed during the pandemic – saw each actor individually recording their parts.
