How do the Hargreeves siblings get their powers back in The Umbrella Academy Season 4?

As an avid fan who’s watched The Umbrella Academy since its inception, I must say that Season 4 has truly outdone itself! The writers have once again managed to keep us guessing and on the edge of our seats with their intricate plot twists.

In the gaming world of my imagination, as I eagerly awaited Season 4 of The Umbrella Academy, I pondered: How on Earth would the Hargreeves siblings regain their powers? The anticipation was palpable!

Towards the close of Season 3, Sir Reginald Hargreeves made drastic changes. He sent the siblings back to the year 2019, during which they discovered their powers had vanished. Several characters were also absent, with The Sparrow Academy’s Sloan no longer in presence.

To sum up, at the conclusion of the Season 4 opener, it was revealed that the Hargreeves siblings would regain their powers. Interestingly, they often received additional abilities that were related to their initial ones.

Ben spiked the group with marigold in The Umbrella Academy Season 4

In the opening scene, I found myself being whisked away by a mysterious figure who urgently needed the Umbrella Academy family to restore our powers – for the sake of someone dear to him. This enigmatic man had artifacts from the original timeline in his possession, and Five picked up on something peculiar: a glass of marigold. Seizing the box, we set off on an unexpected journey that led us straight to a Japanese steakhouse.

In that location, Five demonstrates the presence of marigolds. They are given an opportunity to regain their powers, yet some prefer not to take advantage of it. This situation is such that either everyone gets their abilities back or none do.

Ben and Diego yearn to regain their skills. It’s evident that Lila desires the same, although she seems reluctant to acknowledge it openly. Viktor, Klaus, and Luther strongly oppose it, and it appears as though Allison may be leaning towards indecision. Given Allison’s history, this is hardly unexpected; after all, she was the one who made the sacrifice initially, even going against her siblings and putting them in danger.

Regarding Five, he was open to the collective’s wishes. In fact, despite not having his special abilities, he managed to secure a satisfying life thanks to the other talents he had developed along the way.

Ben felt disappointed about the choice not to regain their powers. Consequently, he concocted a plan: infusing sake with marigold, ensuring that each sibling and Lila would once again possess their powers.

A change to some of the powers in The Umbrella Academy

According to the teaser, certain powers were set to be altered. Uniquely, Luther was the character who retained all his powers without any apparent changes, even maintaining his semi-ape appearance.

In comparison to other characters, Diego’s abilities did not progress significantly, and some even took a step back. This could be attributed to how the timelines merged, possibly leading to Five experiencing a decrease in his powers.

As a gamer, I can’t help but feel the heat of betrayal when my in-game siblings find out Ben drugged our drinks and snatched our decisions. But, as we dig deeper into this virtual reality, we slowly understand that unity is our key to defeating Reginald Hargreeves and preserving the world we’ve grown attached to.
