For several years now, the Video Music Awards (VMA) have been highlighting the rising stars of the Korean pop (K-pop) scene. The ceremony introduced a K-pop category in 2019. TXT, BTS, NCT 127, EXO, Monsta X, and BLACKPINK were the inaugural nominees for the VMA K-pop category in that year.
Ever since then, BTS has largely reigned supreme in that category with numerous victories under their belt. Meanwhile, other artists such as Lisa and Stray Kids claimed the title of Best K-pop artist for the years 2022 and 2023, respectively.

BTS’s Jungkook is up for an award in the “Best Collaboration” category due to his hit song “Seven,” which features Latto. Furthermore, HYBE’s group Le Sserafim earned a nomination for their track “Easy” under the “Best Push Performance Of The Year” category. Notably, Lisa has been recognized in four different categories: “Best K-pop”, “Best Editing”, “Best Choreography”, and “Best Direction” for her 2024 release, “Rockstar.”

On September 10th at 8 p.m. Eastern Time (ET), 5 p.m. Pacific Time (PT), September 11th at 9 a.m. Korea Standard Time (KST) and 5:30 a.m. India Standard Time (IST), the MTV Video Music Awards 2024 will be taking place live from UBS Arena, which is just outside New York City, and will be broadcast worldwide.
