As a longtime fan of Henry Cavill‘s work, I can’t help but feel a sense of delight and anticipation at his recent cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine. The man has always had an undeniable screen presence, and watching him transform into a grittier, more rugged version of everyone’s favorite mutant was nothing short of exhilarating.
Henry Cavill, once Superman on screen, shared thoughts on Instagram about his unexpected role in the Deadpool and Wolverine film. In the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe production, he was cast as a different version of Wolverine. Despite having a short screen time, Cavill’s imposing presence left viewers impressed. During an interview about this highly anticipated cameo, Cavill subtly addressed the notorious mustache incident that happened during Justice League reshoots in 2017.
Henry Cavill recalls Justice League’s mustache controversy with Wolverine post
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but share my excitement over Henry Cavill’s Instagram post! Dressed as the iconic claw-wielding superhero, he paid tribute to his surprise appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine. In true humor, he captioned it, “For this role, I trimmed just the mustache.”

Viewers swiftly picked up on Cavill’s allusion to the 2017 turmoil surrounding his involvement with the defunct DC Extended Universe, specifically the Justice League film. During reshoots in 2017, after Joss Whedon assumed control of the project, Cavill was unable to shave off his mustache due to prior commitments for Mission: Impossible – Fallout. As a result, digital technology was used to remove his facial hair, creating an image consistent with Superman’s clean-shaven appearance in Whedon’s Justice League. This substandard CGI sparked intense criticism from online fans, igniting a significant controversy.
41-year-old acting sensation has parted ways with the DC universe after James Gunn became co-CEO of DC Studios. Consequently, Henry Cavill’s recent role in Deadpool & Wolverine paves the way for him to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). In a conversation with Variety, director Shawn Levy disclosed that Cavill was eager to participate in the cameo. Levy explained, “He agreed immediately because he understood it would be unconventional and fun.”
As I type this, it remains unclear whether or not Henry Cavill has formally teamed up with Marvel after playing Wolverine in Deadpool 3.
