As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent navigating the treacherous waters of Westeros and beyond in various Game of Thrones-inspired titles, I must say that the upcoming Season 3 of House of the Dragon promises to be as ruthless and unpredictable as ever.
In a series like House of the Dragon, it’s inevitable that characters will meet their end. This becomes even more likely when we talk about the Dance of the Dragons – a conflict between dragons is always a violent affair.
In Season 3 of House of the Dragon, some beloved characters may not survive, as well as those who were less central to our emotional investment in previous seasons.
In House of the Dragon’s Season 3, we don’t anticipate seeing resurrected characters or visions similar to those seen in Season 2. Here’s hoping that such occurrences will not reappear in the upcoming season!
The Cargyll twins
In House of the Dragon’s Season 2, we have a single unit composed of two characters: the Cargyll twins. True to form, they engaged in a lethal confrontation. Arryk, disguised as his twin brother Erryk, attempted to infiltrate Dragonstone castle with the intention of eliminating Rhaenyra. Unfortunately, this strategy didn’t bear the desired results.
Mysaria noticed that something wasn’t right when a man resembling Erryk approached the castle. Instead of leaving Westeros on a ship, she alerted Rhaenyra’s guards. Unfortunately, Erryk arrived at Arryk’s location before he could harm Rhaenyra, leading to a fatal duel between the two.
One brother killed the other and then killed himself.
Rhaenys and Meleys
Indeed, these two figures share a unique connection; they simultaneously met their ends. Being bound together for this specific case, they effectively become a single entity.
Rhaenys understood that engaging Vhagar would most likely result in her own demise, but she still chose to attack regardless. If Meleys had been given a fair fight, she might have fared better; unfortunately, Vhagar caught Meleys off guard, snapping Meleys’ neck from such a great height that it was already too late for any hope when Rhaenys witnessed the tragic event unfold.
At Rook’s Rest, the two plummeted downwards. Through the dismay of King’s Landing’s commoners, Meleys’s head was dragged along the streets. It is assumed that Rhaenys perished in the fiery blast caused by the dragon explosion.
Lord Blackwood
In the seventh episode of Season 2 in the series ‘House of the Dragon’, Daemon’s vision-centric narrative appeared to reach its conclusion. Now, Oscar Tully holds the title as lord of his household, and he emphasized his intention to uphold the oath made by his father to Rhaenyra. Yet, there’s a condition attached to it.
In a different turn of phrase: Oscar wasn’t in full accord with all the actions House Blackwood took against House Bracken. Lord Blackwood had to face the consequences of his wrongdoings, and it was Daemon who was tasked with enforcing that justice. If Daemon didn’t take action, the River lords wouldn’t support him.
Indeed, Lord Blackwood met his end in execution. Regrettably, another nobleman will likely step into his vacated position, as this seems to be the recurring pattern.
