Top 5 South Newsmakers: Vijay Deverakonda's VD12 release date, Chiranjeevi's controversial video, and more

As a dedicated follower of the vibrant and tumultuous world of South cinema, I must say, this week has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride! From the much-awaited reveal of Vijay Deverakonda’s intense avatar for his upcoming high-octane action film VD12, to the seemingly never-ending saga of Dhanush and the Tamil Film Producers Council, it seems our favorite stars are as entangled in controversy as they are in reel-life drama.

As someone who has spent many years in the entertainment industry, I have seen my fair share of controversies and scandals. However, this past week seems to be particularly eventful, even by Hollywood standards. One incident that caught my attention was the viral video showing Chiranjeevi, a well-respected actor in Indian cinema, allegedly punching a fan at an airport. It is disheartening to see such incidents happening in our industry, and I hope that this serves as a wake-up call for all of us to be more mindful of our actions and interactions with fans.

Rakshit Shetty felt a sense of relief as the court granted him anticipatory bail in the copyright case. If you’re behind on the latest developments, there’s no time like the present to catch up. Dive in immediately.

TOP SOUTH NEWSMAKERS

1. VD12: Vijay Deverakonda’s venture with Gowtam Tinnanuri OUT!

On August 2nd, I ignited excitement among followers as I unveiled my first glimpse for the upcoming movie titled VD12. Anticipation has been mounting for this pulse-pounding action flick, set to hit theaters on March 28, 2025.

The rough character portrayal and powerful build of the actor, along with his intense, blood-streaked facial expressions, have captivated audiences and substantially amplified anticipation for the movie’s premiere.

In a new and unprecedented appearance, the actor from Dear Comrade penned on a shared poster, “His Fate approaches. Errors. Violence. Queries. Renewal. March 28, 2025. #VD12.” Vijay is depicted in an unfamiliar manner, with blood staining his visage.

In response to the intensely passionate gaze of actor Vijay on her official social media platform, Rashmika Mandanna – who is known for her role with Kushi and rumored to be his girlfriend – posted the words “Madness” along with a fire emoticon.

2. Dhanush called out by TFPC

Actor Dhanush, recently featured in the film “Raayan,” finds himself in difficulties following the Tamil Film Producers Council’s decision to give him a warning (red card) due to accusations that he left unfinished productions while receiving initial funds.

Additionally, the council advised filmmakers to consult with them prior to selecting actors for movies following the event. Subsequently, the Nadigar Sangam, headed by Nasser and Karthi, criticized TFPC’s choice to prohibit Dhanush.

Having worked extensively within the Tamil film industry for over a decade, I can confidently attest that rumors and speculation are commonplace. However, it is always refreshing to see a clear statement from an association like the one concerning Mr. Dhanush. As someone who has witnessed firsthand how such unfounded accusations can impact a person’s career and reputation, I appreciate the importance of transparency in these matters. Therefore, I am relieved to know that, based on my knowledge up until now, no complaint has been lodged against Mr. Dhanush by the Tamil Film Producers, and no complaint is pending against him. It is essential for our industry’s integrity and the individuals who make it thrive to maintain a clean slate whenever possible.

On the other hand, it appears that the dispute is shifting direction, as the Tamil Film Producers Council countered the statement and alleged that Nadigar Sangam was being dishonest.

Additionally, it was mentioned that a year prior, the producers’ association had alerted the Nadigar Sangam about five leading actors whose schedules were consistently causing problems for producers.

A few days following the spread of a video showing Nagarjuna apparently pushing a specially-abled fan at an airport, a comparable controversy emerged involving Chiranjeevi as well.

In the airport video, we see Chiranjeevi and his wife, Surekha, leaving an elevator with airport staff. A representative from IndiGo Airlines tries to take a selfie with Chiranjeevi at first, but he seems not to notice.

Following another instance of insistence from the employee, Chiranjeevi gently guides him away and proceeds forward. The footage has ignited a significant discussion, with certain spectators finding Chiranjeevi’s actions questionable, while others are supportive of him.

4. Rakshit Shetty granted bail  in copyright case

As a lifestyle advisor, I’d like to share an update regarding Rakshit Shetty, a prominent figure in the entertainment industry. Recently, there were allegations of copyright infringement surrounding his film, Bachelor Party. However, in a positive turn of events, Rakshit has been granted anticipatory bail by the Bengaluru court. This means that he can continue his daily life while the legal process unfolds, ensuring that he’s not unnecessarily detained without due process. It’s always important to remember that everyone is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

In my role as a committed follower, I’d like to share that I became part of an official investigation initiated by the Yeshwanthpur police. This was triggered by a complaint lodged by Naveen Kumar of MRT Music, leading to the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) against Shetty and his production company, Paramvah Studios.

In response to the complaint filed by Naveen Kumar of MRT Music, the Charlie 777 actor had

Instead of “sought anticipatory bail,” you could say “Rakshit applied for, or requested, anticipatory bail.” In simpler terms, this means that he asked for bail before any arrest was made, in order to prevent immediate detention. As per Times Now, Rakshit was granted bail on July 29 in the copyright violation case.

For those not familiar, Naveen Kumar of MRT Music claimed that Paramvah Studios and actor Rakshit Shetty failed to obtain necessary copyrights and broadcast rights for songs from movies “Nyaya Ellide” and “Gaali Maathu” before using them in the movie “Bachelor Party.”
