As a long-time follower of Tamil cinema, I must say this latest Dhanush controversy has left me somewhat perplexed. Having watched his meteoric rise and the incredible versatility he’s demonstrated over the years, it’s hard to believe such accusations could be levied against him.
Lately, the Nadigar Sangam criticized the TFPC’s decision to ban Dhanush, claiming he failed to appear for shoots after receiving payment in advance. However, according to the most recent news, the Tamil Film Producers Council has countered by accusing the Nadigar Sangam of dishonesty.
Furthermore, as stated by the TFPC on August 1, it was disclosed a year prior that the Nadigar Sangam had been notified by the producers’ association about five leading actors whose schedules were consistently posing problems for filmmakers.
“We chose to make our decisions regarding protecting our interests public, as Nadigar Sangam failed to provide a practical resolution.”
As an ardent cinema enthusiast, let me share some exciting news from the Tamil Film Industry’s heartland! You might not be aware, but our beloved Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) convened a meeting right here in Chennai recently. The purpose? A temporary pause on all film-related activities until November 1st! This bold decision was made to help clear the bottlenecks and backlogs of films that are stuck at different stages of production. Exciting times ahead, don’t you think?
As a die-hard admirer, I found myself caught up in a whirlwind when the Council vocalized their concern, urging movie makers to seek their approval prior to casting Dhanush. To make matters more intriguing, they even hoisted a red flag against the illustrious superstar.
According to News18, the council advised that if producer(s) have already paid an upfront fee to Dhanush for multiple films, they should discuss with the Tamil Film Producers Association prior to commencing production on any new movies featuring actor Dhanush.
In response to the recent uproar, the Nadigar Sangam, headed by Nasser, Vishal, and Karthi, have voiced their backing for Dhanush. Their declaration states that, as of now, no criticism or issue has been brought forth against Mr. Dhanush by Tamil Film Producers, and there are currently no outstanding complaints against him.
Previously, in 2023, Sri Thenandal Films leveled accusations against him for failing to appear for the shoot after receiving payment in advance. In terms of his upcoming projects, Dhanush will be featured in Kubera alongside Rashmika Mandanna and Nagarjuna.
In the upcoming movie, acclaimed director Sekhar Kammula takes the helm. It’s been said that the tale of Kubera unfolds within the bustling streets of Dharavi, Mumbai, featuring Tamil actor Dhanush as a character who starts out homeless and rises to become a powerful mafia figure.
Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that the actor from Raayan is set to appear in an eagerly anticipated biographical film about the legendary music composer Ilaiyaraaja. This upcoming movie, helmed by director Arun Matheswaran, is being produced as a collaborative effort between Connekkt Media, PK Prime Production, and Mercuri Movies.
