Mr. Queen
Mr. Queen is a romantic comedy with a gender swap plot set in a drama series from South Korea in 2020. Starring Shin Hye-Sun and Kim Jung-Hyun as the main characters, it revolves around Jang Bong-Hwan, an esteemed chef who nearly meets his demise at the hands of an assassin. Instead, he finds himself unconscious in a swimming pool, only to awaken in the Joseon era, inhabiting the body of Queen Kim So-Yong. As this timid and vulnerable queen takes over, she starts acting rebelliously, shamelessly, and boisterously, causing upheaval within the kingdom.
In the Netflix series, the summary goes: “A skilled chef finds himself in the body of a 19th-century queen and must learn to maneuver through the royal court while searching for a means to return to his own time and life.” Choi Jin-Hyuk stars as the gifted chef.
Tunnel
2017’s “Tunnel” is a gripping drama starring Choi Jin-Hyuk, where I step into the shoes of the dedicated detective, Park Gwang-Ho, from 1986. As I delve into a chilling serial murder case, an unexpected leap through time lands me in the year 2017. Here, I meet the esteemed detective Kim Sun-Jae and we join forces to unravel the mystery. To further our investigation, we enlist the assistance of psychology professor Shin Jae-Yi.
The show “Gwang-Ho” is accessible on both Viki and Netflix, with Jin-Hyuk playing the lead role as Gwang-Ho, Yoon Hyun-Min portraying Kim Sun-Jae, and Lee Yoo-Young acting as Jae-Yi.
Zombie Detective
2020’s Zombie Detective is a show featuring actors Jin-Hyuk and Park Ju-Hyun. The storyline is a humorous take on a zombie, having been resurrected for two years, who decides to become a detective in search of his past, while simultaneously trying to live harmoniously with humans.
