As a seasoned gamer and K-drama enthusiast with a penchant for the undead, I must say I’m thoroughly intrigued by BLACKPINK‘s Jisoo’s upcoming series, Newtopia. With a rich background in both music and acting, particularly her captivating performance in Snowdrop, she’s proven herself to be an actress worth watching.


It’s been confirmed that Jisoo from the group BLACKPINK is set to star in a new K-drama titled “Newtopia.” This will be her first on-screen collaboration with actor Park Jung-Min. The upcoming series on Coupang Play is expected to contribute to the zombie drama genre.

In a world called Newtopia, the story centers on Jae-Yoon, a man who joined the military, and his companion, Young-Joo. When a zombie plague sweeps through their city, the pair becomes alarmed. In an effort to locate one another amidst the pandemonium, they hastily search for each other.

More recently, the network posted some frames from the drama. In these images, Jae-Yoon and another soldier are depicted, both showing startled expressions as they gaze at something. Remarkably, the backdrop behind them is splattered with blood. The subsequent snapshot features Young-Joo, looking worried on the street.

It has been confirmed that Blackpink’s Jisoo’s upcoming K-drama, titled Newtopia, will not air in 2023. Instead, its debut on Coupang Play has been set for the year 2025, as they revealed it to be a future release date for their zombie apocalypse series.

Newtopia K-drama: Jisoo & Park Jung-Min cast as leads

In the television show “Newtopia” set in Newtopia, the popular K-pop artist Jisoo of BLACKPINK and the talented actor Park Jung-Min headline the production. Their characters are portrayed as lovers trying to reunite amidst a zombie outbreak.

Jisoo (Kim Ji-Soo), despite having a limited number of dramas under her belt, has made a significant mark in the industry with her past performances. She gained widespread recognition in the acting realm through the popular 2021 series, Snowdrop, partnering with Jung Hae-In. Known as “The Flower” singer, Jisoo is set to make more waves in Newtopia, a project that was originally titled Influenza. Additionally, she will feature in an upcoming film, Omniscient Reader, alongside Ahn Hyo-Seop and Lee Min-Ho.

Conversely, Park Jung-Min boasts an impressive background in well-known K-dramas like The 8 Show, Sh**ting Stars, Hellbound, Mr. Sunshine, Reply 1988, and Entourage. Moreover, he has graced the screens of Korean films such as Start-Up, Time to Hunt, and Life is But a Dream as well.

Meanwhile, the two stars will collaborate on a romance fantasy project, Newtopia, on Coupang Play.
