As a longtime fan of “Family Guy” who has been following this animated juggernaut since its inception in 1999, I can confidently say that the anticipation for season 23 is reaching epic proportions! While it seems like an eternity until January 2025 when the new episodes hit FOX’s Animation Domination block, I’m more than ready to indulge in two holiday specials this October and December. The creators of “Family Guy” have always had a knack for crafting hilarious yet family-friendly holiday episodes that deliver those signature comedic punches we all love.

As a die-hard Family Guy fan, I can hardly contain my excitement for Season 23! Though it seems like an eternity, we’ll finally get our fix in January 2025 on FOX’s Animation Domination block. But fear not, the wait won’t feel as long since Hulu is gifting us with two holiday specials this October and December! With the Family Guy writers at the helm, you know these holiday episodes will be filled with family-friendly fun, while still packing a comedic punch that’s been the series’ signature for 25 years.

So far, FOX has kept quiet regarding specifics of season 23 for the Griffin family on “Family Guy”. However, TVLine broke the news first, sharing a synopsis and a short teaser trailer packed with sneak peeks from future episodes. The video was particularly exciting due to its inclusion of Easter Eggs from previous seasons and Seth MacFarlane’s voiceover narration.

Get ready for season 23, as it promises to be “freakin’ sweet.”

What to know about Family Guy season 23 so far

As a long-time fan of this popular TV show, I am beyond excited about the upcoming season! The spoilers dropped by TVLine have only fueled my anticipation as I eagerly await the new Halloween special premiering exclusively on Hulu. Having spent countless hours binge-watching seasons past, I can’t wait to see what new adventures and twists await our favorite characters in the upcoming episodes. With over five minutes of fresh material in the sizzle reel, I know that the creators have been working tirelessly to deliver an unforgettable experience for fans like myself. The countdown has begun!

In the initial scene, the television show playfully imitates the plot of the 1986 action film “Top Gun” in a segment titled “Fat Gun.” As we proceed, we catch a glimpse of Lisa Simpson disguised as a mask while Brian and Stewie browse for Halloween costumes. Going back to 2014, an episode of “Family Guy” collaborated with “The Simpsons,” thereby planting the very first Easter Egg referencing earlier seasons.

In a surprising twist, it’s revealed that members of the United States Supreme Court secretly masquerade as the DC Justice League. This group is known as the “Supreme Friends.” The scene flashes back to when the Griffins were portrayed as superheroes in the opening credits for the second episode of season 8.

Regarding surprise appearances by guest stars, comedian Pete Davidson makes an unanticipated cameo, sharing his hidden wisdom about relationships.

FOX drops the official logline for season 23

The logline, revealed episode plot descriptions and a couple of pop culture references. Suppose I had to guess about the China episode, in that case, I bet it’ll be called “The Road To China” since Stewie and, most likely, Brian will be traveling to the Asian country. Hopefully, we’ll have a song-and-dance routine as the past “Road” episodes included them, making them fun and memorable.

Peter accidentally exposes his inability to throw a ball, Meg starts dating the giant chicken’s son, and Chris loses his earring in a Lord of the Rings-inspired escapade. Additionally, Stewie finds out his stuffed bear, Rupert, was made in China and makes it his mission to take him back there to meet his family. The series will also parody The White Lotus, as the Griffin family vacation[s] at a luxury resort, where Stewie worries that his wealthy new friends plan to sacrifice him in a volcano.

The Family Guy Halloween special premiere date

As a long-time fan of the show, I’m absolutely thrilled to learn that we’ll get a special Halloween episode on October 14th! I can hardly wait to stream it on Hulu. However, as someone who has been following the series closely for years, I’m a bit disappointed that no details about the Christmas episode have been announced yet. It feels like Christmas came early with the Halloween special news, but now I’m left wondering what Santa might bring us in terms of a holiday-themed episode. Fingers crossed for some exciting updates soon!
