FBI: International season 4 gets a new team lead and everything to know ahead of the premiere

As a seasoned gamer of the FBI franchise, I must say, the latest news about FBI: International has left me both intrigued and a tad bit nostalgic. The Fly Team, my loyal companions on countless adventures, is undergoing a significant shift with the departure of their fearless leader Scott Forrester. It’s like saying goodbye to the captain of your favorite sports team, knowing that a new one will come, but still feeling the void left behind.

When FBI: International resumes this autumn, you’ll notice some changes. Unfortunately, the Fly Team suffered the loss of three members during season 3, including their commander, Scott Forrester. A new supervisory agent has been added to the mix, so we can anticipate a transformation in team dynamics.

It seems that the premiere for this year (2024) is not scheduled for September, unlike previous seasons with one exception due to a strike. Instead, most of the network’s scripted shows will make their appearance or return in October.

When does FBI: International return?

As a dedicated gamer, I’m pumped to share that the next chapter of my favorite TV series, FBI: International, kicks off on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 9 p.m. ET. It follows right after the premiere of season 7 of good ol’ FBI. The number of episodes for this season is still under wraps, but we can expect it to be a full season, bringing us back to the usual 20-22 episodes in its fourth installment. Can’t wait!

According to Deadline, the cast wasn’t given the same reduced minimum episode assurance as the main cast of the flagship series and FBI: Most Wanted. As a result, it’s unlikely that they will be absent during specific storylines or plot arcs without reason.

Cast

Returning cast members include:

  • Vinessa Vidotto as Special Agent Cameron Vo
  • Carter Redwood as Special Agent Andre Raines
  • Eva-Jane Willis as Europol Agent Megan “Smitty” Garretson
  • Christina Wolfe as Special Agent Amanda Tate

FBI: International season 4 gets a new team lead and everything to know ahead of the premiere

Jesse Lee Soffer has joined the cast of FBI: International

Enthusiasts of the “One Chicago” series can look forward to Jesse Lee Soffer taking on a leading part in “FBI: International” season 4. It’s important to note that he won’t portray his character Jay Halstead from “Chicago P.D.” despite both franchises being connected within the same universe. Instead, he’ll be assuming a fresh role for the CBS show.

Soft has been chosen to play Wesley “Wes” Mitchell, the latest Supervisory Special Agent on the Fly Team, who is known for his charm and somewhat roguish behavior. As depicted, Wes often employs unorthodox strategies to accomplish tasks, yet he boasts remarkable intuition and an unyielding determination to apprehend criminals.

Why Scott Forrester isn’t in season 4

After Scott left the Fly Team, Wes recently joined. In the season 3 finale, Scott was spotted running away with his mother towards Alaska. When the team managed to locate him, they felt relieved. However, since he chose to disappear from the grid after leaving, a new leader has been appointed to lead the team.

It’s important to mention that Luke Kleintank’s departure from FBI: International is not a short-term move. He explained his choice by stating the reasons as follows:

After much thought and consideration, I’ve made the difficult decision to leave FBI International. This decision is driven by my unwavering commitment to my family, whose love and well-being are paramount in my life. I’m profoundly thankful for the extraordinary cast and crew of the show, who have not only been colleagues but also a family away from home. Their unwavering dedication and remarkable talents have made every moment on set an unforgettable journey that has enriched my life in countless ways. Lastly, I would also like to extend my thanks to the fans who have supported us through the first three seasons.

More cast exits

Heida Reed is no longer playing Jamie Kellet, and she left the show during the premiere of season 3 when her character decided to resign and return to America for a job at the D.C. field office. Similarly, Greg Hovanessian won’t be reappearing as FBI Special Agent Damian Powell, as his character was moved to undercover operations in episode 5 of season 3.

It remains unclear if CBS will arrange another three-show crossover for the upcoming 2024-2025 television season, or if they will do a two-show crossover similar to last year’s episode where Jubal collaborated with the Fly Team.
