What is 500 Days of Silence about?

The documentary shares the personal stories of rock bands and musicians who encountered challenges during the global pandemic, a period when the entertainment industry came to a standstill with no clear end. Small clubs and large stadiums alike felt the impact as tours were canceled and venues closed, leaving bands with the difficult decision to pack up and leave. Amidst it all, newcomers The Black Moods from Tempe, Arizona, climbed their way into the Billboard Top 20 charts. Determined not to let go of their dreams, they continue to innovate and connect with fans while reassessing priorities in their lives.

“The audience will be part of genuine discussions among veteran musicians, including Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, Rick Springfield, members of Gin Blossoms, REO Speedwagon, Slipknot, and Steel Panther. These artists face uncertainty about their future performances, grappling with the possibility that their music careers may come to a halt. Through this process, they explore ways to keep creating music.”

500 Days of Silence is a movie written and directed by Jeremy Simmons, who captured over two years’ worth of footage while The Black Moods band traveled during the pandemic. The film follows their journey through Arizona, Mexico, Missouri, South Dakota, Florida, and Southern California as they face the ups and downs of maintaining a rock and roll lifestyle.

In this documentary, you’ll encounter the presence of various notable musicians including Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony from Van Halen, Corey Taylor of Slipknot, Rick Springfield, Kevin Cronin of REO Speedwagon, Robin Wilson of Gin Blossoms, Eddie Trunk, Eddie Kramer, Josh Kennedy, Chico Diaz, Jordan Hoffman of The Black Moods, Jim Adkins of Jimmy Eat World, Michael Starr of Steel Panther, Vic Johnson of The Circle, and Roger Clyne of Refreshments.
