As a hardcore gamer with years of experience under my belt, I’ve seen my fair share of movie trailers before and after the release of highly anticipated films. And let me tell you, the lineup of movies that played in front of Deadpool & Wolverine was nothing short of impressive!
On July 26th, Deadpool and Wolverine hit theaters with a bang. Deadpan Deadpool, portrayed by Ryan Reynolds, joined forces with the iconic mutant, Wolverine or Logan, played by Hugh Jackman. Canadian director Shawn Levy will be at the helm of Deadpool and Wolverine, bringing his unique directorial style as he did in the 2021 comedy film, Free Guy.
A large number of people gathered in the auditorium on the first day to watch “Deadpool & Wolverine.” The following are five other highly anticipated films that were screened prior to their showing:
1. Cuckoo (August 9)
Previously, the opening credits of “Deadpool & Wolverine” introduced us to the lives of the producers behind “Longlegs.” We were given a glimpse into the story of a 17-year-old girl, depicted as injured and mentally distressed in the trailer. The film title and preview set the stage for what audiences could anticipate when “Cuckoo” is released on August 9.
2. Speak No Evil (September 13)
Producers from Blumhouse, known for hits like “Get Out” and more, present a chilling thriller. James McAvoy, BAFTA winner and star of “Split” and “Glass,” portrays an estate owner tormented by the dark. Joining him are Mackenzie Davis, SAG award-winning actress from “A Quiet Place Part II,” Scoot McNairy, a notable actor in both films and television, and Alix West Lefler, best known for her role in “Riverdale.” They all accept an invitation for a weekend getaway. However, what seemed like a relaxing vacation soon transforms into a twisted psychological horror.
3. Joker: Folie A Deux (October 4)
Todd Phillips, as both writer and director, recently released a new trailer for the sequel to his 2019 crime thriller “Joker,” titled “Joker: Folie à Deux.” The second trailer drew interest from the fan base of films like “Deadpool” and “Wolverine.” While some viewers expressed excitement, others showed mixed reactions towards both the upcoming film and the mentioned titles.
4. Alien: Romulus (August 16)
The newest installation in the popular Alien series, titled “Alien: Romulus,” is set to release on August 16th. Previews for this film have sparked varied responses from audiences, with some expressing reservations based on the final trailer.
5. Captain America: Brave New World (Out Feb. 14, 2025)
As a long-time fan of Marvel movies, I’m beyond excited about the upcoming release of “Captain America: Brave New World.” I can still remember the thrill of watching Chris Evans bring Steve Rogers to life on the big screen for the first time. And now, we have Sam Wilson stepping into the iconic red, white, and blue suit, which feels like a natural progression based on his storyline in the comics.
