Avengers 5: Doomsday: Will Kang Return? What Happens to His Dynasty?

As a longtime Marvel fan and avid gamer, I’ve been following the developments surrounding Marvel Studios’ latest announcement at Comic-Con 2024 regarding Avengers 5: Doomsday and the replacement of Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror with Robert Downey Jr. as Dr. Doom.

At San Diego Comic-Con 2024, Marvel Studios revealed that “Avengers 5” would be renamed “Doomsday” instead of “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.” However, it remains to be seen how Marvel will manage the recasting or replacement of Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror in this upcoming film.

What will happen to all his variants? Here’s all you need to know.

Will Jonathan Majors’ Kang cameo in Avengers 5: Doomsday?

Jonas Majors won’t be coming back due to Marvel Studios terminating his contract for all Kang character parts. A court verdict declared Majors guilty of harassment in the second degree and assault in the third degree, resulting in his instant dismissal as Kang the Conqueror.

I first encountered him as He Who Remains in Loki’s series, but later on, I discovered he had other aliases as Kang in Loki Season 2 and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. However, Marvel seems to be shifting direction with Avengers: Doomsday, which means the storyline I was expecting from these appearances won’t unfold as planned. Instead, we’ll head into Avengers: Secret Wars in an unexpected way.

How will Dr. Doom replace Jonathan Majors’ Kang Dynasty variants?

At Comic-Con 2024, Marvel revealed that Robert Downey Jr. would take on the role of Victor Von Doom at SDCC, replacing Jonathan Majors as Kang. In this new version, Downey’s character is believed to be a Tony Stark equivalent from another universe. Moving away from his heroic role in the Infinity Saga, Downey will now embody the most formidable antagonist of the Multiverse Saga.

As a long-time fan of Marvel comics and movies, I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment upon hearing that Kang the Conqueror will not be making an appearance in Avengers: Endgame – Doomsday. Throughout my years of following the Marvel universe, I have grown fond of the time-traveling villain and his intricate relationships with various Avengers.

In that scenario, Avengers 5: Doomsday would serve to solidify Doctor Doom’s status as God Emperor Doom. This transformation would make him a formidable adversary not just for the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men, but also for heroes spanning the Multiverse in Avengers: Secret Wars.
