As a huge fan of The Royals and having followed William Moseley‘s journey as Prince Liam for four thrilling seasons, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia and disappointment all at once. Moseley’s interview with ComingSoon brought back memories of how much I loved watching him grow as an actor and develop his character in the intriguing world of The Royals.
William Moseley acted as Prince Liam in “The Royals” on E! for four consecutive seasons. This part was special to him because it allowed him the chance to delve deeper into a character’s development over an extended duration.
During an interview with ComingSoon, Moseley shared his thoughts on the distinction between acting in a series like “The Royals” and appearing in a film. He expressed his pleasure in having the opportunity to build a character throughout four distinct seasons.
“I truly enjoyed watching The Royals as I found developing the characters to be engaging, and I was impressed by Mark Schwahn’s exceptional writing,” Moseley shared. “He skillfully molded the characters to suit our individualities. In my case, Mark seemed to recognize that I wanted to portray a more serious version of the character in The Royals compared to the initial season.”
I wasn’t sure if that was a positive or negative aspect, but I chose to identify with the character’s turmoil, his grief, and the intense facets of his personality – his father having passed away, his desire for retribution. I wanted to convey that authenticity in my portrayal of him. Mark crafted an exceptional storyline for me to bring this character to life.
Moseley opens up about The Royal’s cancellation
Moseley spoke candidly about the show’s termination, expressing regret that they didn’t have the chance to conclude it satisfactorily for viewers. However, he remains grateful that the series continues to touch people’s hearts.
Moseley expressed his disappointment in how the show ended, feeling that things weren’t concluded satisfactorily. However, he acknowledged that as an actor, he could only do what was asked of him during the production. Despite this, he was thankful for the opportunity to be a part of a successful show and connect with audiences who enjoyed it.
In the E! show, Moseley played the role of Prince Liam Henstridge, who was the second-born child of King Simon and Queen Helena, and had a twin sister named Eleanor. He became the heir to the throne after the demise of his elder brother, Robert.
The Royal series first aired in 2015 and continued until its cancellation in 2018, completing 40 episodes. Despite Lionsgate’s efforts to find a new network for the show post-cancellation, no takers emerged, ultimately leading to its conclusion.
