As a longtime fan of K-pop girl group KARA, I couldn’t contain my excitement when I heard they were making a comeback in 2024 with their new single “I Do I Do.” The announcement came as a pleasant surprise since the group had been relatively quiet since their last EP, Move Again, which marked their 15th anniversary special release in 2022.
In a refreshing return, K-pop sensation KARA unveiled their newest single titled “I Do I Do” as part of their 2024 comeback. Following their earlier release of “Hello,” this marks the girl group’s second song debut in the year. As KARA embarks on a new chapter, fans are intrigued to see which members of the renowned K-pop act remain active in 2024.
In 2022, there has been a surge of second-generation girl groups making their return to the music industry. Most recently, YG’s renowned girl group 2NE1 announced they would be reuniting to mark their 15th anniversary. Similarly, KARA shared that they will make their comeback in 2024 with a new track titled “I Do I Do.”
How many members are in 2024 KARA comeback?
Since their debut in 2007 under DSP Media, KARA experienced various transformations in their lineup. Originally composed of Park Gyuri, Han Seungyeon, Nicole Jung, and Kim Sunghee, the group later saw Sunghee’s departure and welcomed Hara and Kang Jiyoung into its ranks.
As a dedicated fan, I’d like to share that currently, our beloved KARA consists of five lively members: Gyuri, Seungyeon, Nicole, Jiyoung, and Youngji. In an heartfelt gesture, we, the active members of KARA, chose to honor the memory of the late K-pop icon Hara by incorporating her enchanting vocals into our newest release, “Hello.”
RBW, KARA’s present label, revealed that “Hello” was initially meant for KARA’s 2013 album “Full Bloom,” titled as “an early track.” The melody and sound quality have been updated using Hara’s old recording of her voice. Youngji, who joined KARA in 2014, contributed to the song by adding her vocals to it.
In the second part of the song “Hello,” the late K-pop star Hara contributes her distinctive vocals with the lyrics: “Hello, enduring this prolonged silence/ I’m growing increasingly foolish.” The chorus is then taken over by Jiyoung, Youngji, and Nicole, who express: “For the very first time/ For my initial love/ For my inaugural kiss/ Those customary phrases/ Have transformed into something new” (Transformed, Transformed, Transformed).
As a huge fan of KARA, I was thrilled when they dropped their last EP, Move Again, back in 2022. It was their special anniversary release to mark fifteen years since the group first graced us with their presence. The reunion brought back so many memories for second-generation K-pop fans like me, and it sold over 20,000 copies within just a week of its release. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw that the EP ranked sixteenth on the Circle Album Chart! With another comeback on the horizon in 2024, I can’t help but wonder what amazing things KARA has planned for their fans.
