The Run: Got Next is a 3v3 spiritual successor to NBA Street from former EA devs

As a longtime fan of urban basketball games, particularly NBA Street, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement upon hearing about The Run: Got Next from Play by Play Studios. With a team of former EA Sports developers at the helm, including CEO Scott Probst and artist Michael Young, who were instrumental in creating some of my favorite memories from the classic NBA Street series, I’m confident that we’re in for a true spiritual successor to one of my all-time favorite games.

A group of ex-EA Sports developers has recently come together to create a new team, and they’re working on developing a basketball game similar to the popular NBA Street series. The Run: Got Next is a thrilling 3 versus 3 competition where players face off against a diverse range of intriguing opponents. In this game, players can dribble, feint, shoot, and slam dunk against one another in impromptu street court matches. The projected launch date for the game is set for 2025 on both consoles and personal computers.

Indie game developer Play by Play Studios recently unveiled their latest project, The Run: Got Next, through a trailer on their website. In this sneak peek, viewers were introduced to several distinct characters with eye-catching designs. Spin Cycle appears to be a versatile medium-weight character, known for his impressive technical skills. Zamboni is an imposing figure, suggesting raw power and the ability to bulldoze through opponents towards the basket. High Wire, on the other hand, showcases agility and acrobatics in her captivating ball handling.

In the upcoming year, we can anticipate seeing more information about The Run: Got Next. At present, we’re aware that the game is set to be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC around 2025. You can add it to your wishlist on Steam right now. Headed by CEO Scott Probst, Play by Play Studios boasts an impressive team. Probst previously held producer and general manager roles at EA for a span of fifteen years. Additionally, the studio’s roster includes artist Michael Young, who contributed to the NBA Street series up to and including Homecourt.

As we anticipate The Run’s launch in the 2025 timeframe, keep an eye on Shacknews for further updates. We’ll be eagerly waiting and ready to share new information about The Run on our “Got Next” segment.
