Will Otto Hightower return in House of the Dragon?

As a long-time fan of George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” series and the Game of Thrones TV show, I have grown fond of many complex characters, but none quite as cunning and manipulative as Ser Otto Hightower. His recent dismissal from his position as Hand of the King in House of the Dragon left me wondering if we had seen the last of him in this prequel series.

Did you assume that Aegon’s dismissal of Otto in “House of the Dragon” marked the last appearance of the Kingmaker for us? Although he was mentioned in the latest episode, there’s a chance we might still get to see him in the show.

In the most recent installment, Aemond admitted to requiring the assistance of a trusted advisor. Larys Strong tried to seize this opportunity, but Aemond was not deceived. Instead, Aemond came to the conclusion that he needed his grandfather’s guidance once again.

Otto had been an excellent pick for the position of Hand of the King for a long period. He was skilled at communicating effectively with the public and understood the consequences of various actions. Aegon, however, being quite young and inexperienced, was not receptive to this wisdom. Younger still was Aemond, who tended to prioritize military conquests over political alliances.

Otto Hightower isn’t responding to people in House of the Dragon

An assumption can be made that Ser Larys followed the instruction to send a raven to Otto. Given his loyalty to Aemond, it’s unlikely he defied an order. Yet, no response was received from Otto.

During their conversation, Alicent and Gwayne acknowledged that they hadn’t received any news from Otto since he departed from King’s Landing. It appeared as if he had abandoned the city without a trace. However, it was unlikely that this was the truth. Otto wasn’t going to return out of nowhere just because he was needed again.

It’s not unlikely that Otto would engage in some manipulation. He’d be eager to discover how crucial Aemond considers his presence in the Small Council. Simultaneously, he could be clandestinely building alliances for the Greens.

Otto does return in Fire & Blood

At the point when Rhaenyra arrives at and assumes control over King’s Landing, Otto makes a reappearance. Unfortunately, Otto’s tenure does not result in a positive outcome for him, given his past actions aimed at securing a seat for his family on the Iron Throne.

As an avid fan, I can’t help but feel excited about the possibility that Otto will make an appearance in “House of the Dragon.” However, it seems his tenure might be brief. This news is disappointing for me and perhaps others who appreciate his cunning political mind – he’s a character reminiscent of Tywin Lannister. But for those who dislike him, this could be a welcome development.
