She went to see him in jail and urged him to keep quiet during questioning. Hyun-Soo suggested having proof against the conglomerate, which would prevent any harm to him. Sang-Il instructed keeping this knowledge confidential, granting Hyun-Soo bail in return.
Han Sang-Il confronts Kim Yong-Min
While spending time with Hyun-Soo, Yong-Min grew suspicious of Kim Yong-Min for possibly informing the prosecution. However, Sang-Il revealed that it was actually Do-Yoon who had taken the ledgers and given them to the authorities. Despite knowing the truth was about his own son, Sang-Il deceived Hyun-Soo to cast doubt in his mind. Later on, Sang-Il privately admonished Yong-Min for his actions and urged him to keep a low profile following the incident.
During a later conversation with his wife, Yong-Min shared his intention to assume control of Hwain Group instead of allowing his brother, Kim Yong-Guk, to inherit the position. Additionally, he requested that she manage their duty-free shop investment.
Oh Wan-Soo suspects Seo Do-Yoon
In their talk with Oh Wan-Soo, Park Mi-Ran (Chairwoman) and Hang Sang-Il expressed concerns about Do-Yoon giving the ledgers to the prosecution. Wan-Soo explained she requested those records to aid in transforming the foundation into an international organization. The duo suspected a romantic involvement between Wan-Soo and Do-Yoon.
At a later time, Mi-Ran instructed Sang-Il to end Do-Yoon’s life. But before that, Wan-Soo announced she would give them the ledgers once she had obtained them from Do-Yoon. On his way out, Sang-Il ran into Do-Yoon and requested he return the ledgers. However, Do-Yoon declined, causing frustration for Sang-Il. In response, Sang-Il approached Jang Tae-Ra to halt her family’s investment plan.
Oh Wan-Soo & Seo Do-Yoon have an important discussion about the ledgers
In the evening, Do-Yoon shared some significant news regarding the ledgers with Wan-Soo. When Wan-Soo expressed skepticism over Do-Yoon’s involvement with the prosecution, Do-Yoon explained that the slush funds had been restored to Chairwoman Park Mi-Ran and were not implicated in any wrongdoing against her or her brother Hyun-Soo. Wan-Soo and Do-Yoon grew closer as they unraveled the mystery behind the ledgers. Worrying for Do-Yoon’s safety, Wan-Soo vowed to shield him from harm.
Simultaneously, Jang Tae-Ra and her mother decided to reveal the embezzlement scandal involving Hwain Group and the NOW Foundation. They contacted journalists, leading to extensive media coverage about potential wrongdoing within Hwain Group and rumors of a possible divorce between Wan-Soo and Yong-Guk. Han Sang-Il assured Mi-Ran that he would handle the situation.
Hang Sang-Il makes his game plan
In their talk with Mi-Ran, Sang-Il proposed concealing the embezzlement scandal by spreading gossips about an alleged romance between Wan-Soo and Do-Yoon. They arranged for Wan-Soo to travel with Do-Yoon to Busan for Hwain Resort’s anniversary festivities, mentioning that Yong-Guk would later join them after a mandatory meeting. True to plan, Wan-Soo departed as directed.
As Sang-Il waited, he met with a lawyer known for long-term representation of Hwain Group. Prior to the lawyer’s arrival, Sang-Il pondered over his last conversation with Chairman Kim Duo. However, Kim Duo had mentioned that the will would only be disclosed on his 70th birthday.
At his legal consultation, Sang-Il learned that the deceased Chairman had primarily redirected funds to the NOW Foundation. This revelation prompted him to devise a scheme against Wan-Soo, intending to falsely implicate Do-Yoon in the attack instead. He instructed K1 with great urgency to carry out this plan without fail.
