Latest DBD update has been “disastrous” as players discover game-breaking generator bug

As a dedicated Dead by Daylight (DBD) player with hundreds of hours under my belt, I’ve seen my fair share of bugs and issues. But the latest generator bug that surfaced after Behaviour Interactive’s 8.1.0 update has taken things to a whole new level for me.

In Dead by Daylight (DBD), just like other live games, there have been various bugs that have emerged. However, issues have escalated since Behaviour Interactive released their latest update. Players have reported several problems, one of which is a significant generator malfunction. This new glitch becomes apparent when survivors press a generator’s pop-up button to work on it. Instead of the usual countdown reduction, the number remains unchanged until another generator gets fixed first.

If you’re a survivor player, you may have noticed how problematic this can be during a chase. For killers, however, the generator count is crucial as it shows them how much time remains before survivors can open the exit gates. A sudden change from three to zero generators could cause chaos and even result in a lost game for some killers. Regrettably, this situation has been occurring in certain matches, based on recent Reddit posts.

After Behavior Interactive released update 8.1.0 for Dead by Daylight in mid-July, numerous complaints from players emerged. For example, consider this Reddit post from user Christhegamer1217, which includes a clip demonstrating a generator glitch. In the brief video, two teammates repaired a generator that would have decreased their remaining generators to be one less. However, the count did not change, causing players to manually keep track of the actual number.

Luckily, Behaviour Interactive has acknowledged and plans to resolve certain problems in an upcoming hotfix for Dead by Daylight (DBD X). The developers announced on their official account that they will release this fix on July 24. The issues to be addressed include Survivors not obtaining the Endurance status effect properly, as well as a reduction in generator counts when a Survivor leaves the tally screen during an ongoing trial.
