Marvel & DC: Kevin Feige Says ‘Never Say Never’ to MCU-DCU Crossover Movie

As a long-time fan of both Marvel and DC comics and movies, I cannot hide my excitement at the possibility of an MCU-DCU crossover event in the future. The idea of seeing characters like Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman sharing the screen with Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Captain America is a dream come true for many fans, including myself.

Despite longstanding competition between Marvel and DC, Kevin Feige hasn’t dismissed the idea of a MCU-DCU crossover film in the future. During a recent interview, he hinted at the possibility, fueling excitement among fans hoping to witness DC heroes like Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman interact with Marvel characters including Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Captain America.

Kevin Feige reveals if there are plans for an MCU and DCU crossover event

As the US premiere of Deadpool and Wolverine approaches, Feige discussed the possibility of another collaborative film during an interview with Collider. In this hypothetical project, characters from DC and Marvel could team up for a potential cross-over event within the MCU and DCU universes.

Feige expressed a thoughtful and optimistic response when asked about the possibility of Marvel and DC Universes colliding, especially with James Gunn now leading DCU. He admitted to occasionally pondering the idea as any fan would, yet remained uncertain about the feasibility and timing. “I don’t know when or how that could ever happen,” he told Collider. “But we’ve been talking for so long I can’t rule it out completely. We may not have plans now, but we never say never.”

Currently, a collaboration between the franchises seems unlikely. However, they have the ability to coexist successfully. Feige, in an interview with the same publication, acknowledged having seen images from the Superman set, which he found “impressive.” Gunn is concentrating on that project, while we are focusing on Deadpool, Wolverine, and other upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe productions.

In the world of comics, there have been numerous crossover stories where Marvel and DC characters intermingle. The initial instance of this collaboration occurred in 1976 with the publication “Superman Meets Spider-Man,” a non-canonical work that was not part of the continuity for either character. With these characters having proven they can share the printed page, many fans eagerly anticipate seeing them interact on the big screen as well.
