As a fan, I have always been intrigued by the unique and complex life story of Tom Green. His journey into polygamy and the large family he built is nothing short of extraordinary. However, it’s important to acknowledge that his actions raised serious ethical concerns and were in violation of marriage laws.

Tom Green gained significant attention due to his unconventional lifestyle as a polygamist, having multiple spouses. He frequently graced the media, discussing polygamy and his relationships with all his wives. It is believed that Green’s marriage journey began in 1970, with most of his brides being teenagers at the time. For an extended period, he enjoyed a renowned status. However, Green’s reputation took a hit when he was found guilty of rape in one case and bigamy in another.

Based on The Salt Lake Tribune’s report, Tom Green started marrying underage brides back in 1970 and had a total of ten wives at first. However, by the year 2000, Green resided with his five spouses: Linda Kunz, Cari Green, Shirley Beagley, Hannah Bjorkman, and LeeAnn Beagley. In May 2001, Tom Green’s trial took place in Utah as reported by The New York Times. Prosecutors argued that Green’s polygamous lifestyle was a “defiant statement” against the marriage regulations. After three hours of deliberation, the jury returned with a verdict of guilty. The court subsequently handed him a five-year prison sentence.

In June 2002, a court trial concluded with Tom Green being convicted of raping a 13-year-old girl who later became his spouse in spiritual terms. As reported by CBS News, the proceeding lasted only an hour. The Salt Lake Tribune stated that as a result of this offense, Green was sentenced to serve five years in prison.

Tom Green originally had twelve wives as previously stated. Some of these, whom he referred to as spiritual wives, no longer lived with him by the year 2000. By this time, he was cohabiting with five wives. After serving five years in prison, Tom received parole in 2007 and informed the authorities that he had no intention of taking on any more spouses. According to a report from The Salt Lake City Tribune, Tom had thirty children at the time of his parole.

In February 2021, Tom Green, a well-known Utah polygamist, unfortunately passed away at the age of 72. According to The Salt Lake City Tribune, his demise was due to complications from pneumonia caused by COVID-19. Green’s obituary, published by his family, stated that he leaves behind three spouses, 34 children, 54 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
