As a dedicated fan of the Sweet Home series, I was absolutely thrilled when the third and final season was finally released on Netflix on July 19, 2024. The anticipation had been building ever since we saw Hyun-Su (played by Song Kang) make the heartbreaking decision to end Seo Yi-Kyung’s (Lee Si-Young) suffering in the previous season, leaving us all wondering what would become of her.

Fans were thrilled as Sweet Home season 3 finally debuted on Netflix (July 19, 2024). In the previous installment, Hyun-Su (portrayed by Song Kang) discovered Seo Yi-Kyung’s (Lee Si-Young) heart-wrenching secret struggle. Her monstrous form was hidden beneath the wrecked road. As a result, viewers are eager to find out how her story unfolds.

In the opening episode of Sweet Home’s third and last season, Hyun-Su came to life with a sense of urgency. He felt compelled to save Seo Yi-Kyung (Lee Si-Young) at all costs. Hyun-Su felt deeply connected to her, understanding both her deepest regrets concerning her child and her most profound sorrows related to her son. Therefore, he believed that only he could rescue her.

In episode 1 of Sweet Home season 3, Go Min-Si’s character, Lee Eun-Yu, made numerous attempts to rouse the monster form of Hyun-Su, portrayed by Song Kang. Despite her efforts failing repeatedly, she persisted. Ultimately, she managed to bring out Hyun-Su’s human self. As soon as he regained consciousness, memories flooded back to him, reminding him of the responsibilities he held towards Seo Yi-Kyung, which included alleviating her emotional turmoil and suffering.

Hyun-Su felt compelled to return to the location of his past struggle with Yi-Kyung from season 2. Convinced that only he could rescue her and restore her human form, he hastened to reach the spot. Despite his request for Lee Eun-Yu to stay behind, she was joined by Park Chan-Yeong (Jung Jin-Young) and Ha-Ni (Chae Won-Bin).

In episode 1 of Sweet Home season 3, upon reaching the battle site, Hyun-Su approached Seo Yi-Kyung’s semi-monstrous form without hesitation. He peered into her eyes and delved deep into her visions. There, he witnessed her intense internal battles between her dark cravings and inner torment. On one side, she held her beloved son; on the other, her devoted daughter stood before her.

Hyun-Su explained to her that everything she believed was merely an illusion in her mind. He helped her recognize that it wasn’t true by bringing her back to reality. In the end, Hyun-Su managed to rescue her from her fantasies.
