As a passionate fan of animated films and a lover of unique storytelling, I cannot contain my excitement for the upcoming US release of “The Memoir of a Snail.” This intriguing adult drama, created by Academy Award winner Adam Elliot, promises to captivate audiences with its compelling premise and stunning animation.

The animated feature film “The Memoir of a Snail,” penned, produced, and helmed by Academy Award winner Adam Elliot (known for “Mary and Max”), now has a confirmed US release date.

In a film reportedly crafted over close to a decade, the story unfolds around Grace Puddle, portrayed by Sarah Snook from Succession, who feels isolated and drawn to ornamental snails and romantic novels. An unexpected bond forms between her and an elderly, quirky woman named Pinky.

When is the Memoir of a Snail US release date?

IFC Films announced that the adult animated drama will be coming to the United States for a limited run beginning October 25 and ending in November. This is Elliot’s second film using stop-motion animation, following “Mary and Max” from 2009 and the Oscar-winning short “Harvey Krumpet” from 2004.

The Memoir of a Snail was formerly honored with the top Cristal award at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival for best feature. Beyond its captivating concept, this animated film boasts an impressive voice cast including Snook, Kodi Smit-McPhee (The Power of the Dog) as Gilbert, Jacki Weaver (Clipped) as Pinky, Eric Bana (The Time Traveler’s Wife) as James the Magistrate, Magda Szubanski (Babe: Pig in the City) as Ruth, and Dominique Pinon (Amélie) as Percy, among others.

Grace Pudel, an introverted girl who adores snails and books, feels isolated after being separated from her fiery twin brother Gilbert. She experiences deep sadness and turmoil throughout her life. However, hope emerges when she forms a strong bond with Pinky, an elderly woman known for her resilience and zest for living.

Memoir of a Snail hits US theaters on October 25.
