As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I’ve seen my fair share of game updates and the unexpected issues that come with them. No Man’s Sky, a game notorious for its rocky start, has once again proven to be a double-edged sword with its latest Worlds Part 1 update. While the new content is undeniably impressive, I can’t help but feel a sense of dread as I recall the numerous save file corruptions that have plagued this game in the past.
As a gamer, I’m thrilled about the latest update for Hello Games’ title, No Man’s Sky in The Worlds Part 1. This isn’t just another small patch; it’s the first of several massive updates that have left many players surprised and excited. It came as a free addition to the game, which is a nice bonus.
In No Man’s Sky, due to its vast size and procedurally generated nature, your saved progress can be inadvertently erased, wiping out all the time you’ve invested in a specific save file. This unfortunate event is not uncommon, especially following a new update release for the game.
In early February, following the release of the Omega 4.5 update, numerous save files got corrupted for several users. Fortunately, online assistance managed to resolve most of these problems. However, it’s possible that some gamers encountered irreversible damage.
To ensure you don’t lose your progress while playing the new update of No Man’s Sky, make sure to save a copy of your game file. You can access it by using the File Explorer and typing “%APPDATA%\HelloGames\NMS” in the search bar. Once there, look for the “/DefaultUser/” folder and then the “/cache/” folder inside it. In this last folder, you will find each save file that you can easily duplicate.
Based on my personal experience, I’ve encountered numerous challenges when trying to transfer save files from the Microsoft version of a game to another platform. The frustration of not being able to copy and paste these files can be quite disheartening, especially when you’re eager to continue playing your favorite game on a different device.
With Part 2 likely on its way shortly too, the future looks bright for No Man’s Sky. Again.
