As a long-time League of Legends player with over a decade of experience under my belt, I’m always excited for new patches and updates that Riot brings to the table. And boy, does this one have some juicy changes!
As a dedicated League of Legends gamer, I’m excitedly looking forward to the upcoming patch, 14.14. However, I’ve got to admit that my anticipation is tinged with a hint of impatience. You see, this patch is predicted to take longer than the standard two weeks, with patch 14.13 extending its stay for a full three weeks. The reason behind this? Riot Games is taking their annual summer vacation, ensuring their developers get a well-deserved break in the heart of the year.
Upon their return and with the release of this update, get ready for major modifications and adaptations to the game, including an entirely novel PvE game mode – a first in quite some time.
LoL Patch 14.14: New Champion Aurora Released
In addition to introducing a new player versus environment (PvE) mode, Riot Games is also unveiling a fresh mid-lane champion called Aurora. This Freljordian Vastaya has long been a source of inspiration for numerous champions within the game. After being in development for seven years, what unique abilities will she bring to the table?
Aurora’s Abilities
Passive – Spirit Abjuration
- If Aurora damages an enemy 3 times with her spells and attacks, she will deal magic damage, exorcise a spirit from the enemy, and enter Spirit Mode for a few seconds.
- Aurora gains movement speed while in Spirit Mode.
- Spirits following Aurora grant her additional movement speed and heal her over the duration.
Q – Twofold Hex
As a seasoned League of Legends player, I can tell you that using Aurora’s ability is like wielding Xayah’s enchanted feathers. Enemies who take a hit from her Q are marked with a curse. But here’s the twist: Aurora has the power to retract her Q, which can deal damage anew to champions who have already been touched by it. So, my fellow summoners, let me share some battle-hardened wisdom. To unleash the full potential of Aurora’s abilities, aim to land those Q hits and pullbacks as frequently as possible during combat. Trust me, this strategy has served me well in many a fierce skirmish!
- Cast: Fire a blast of cursed energy in a direction, dealing magic damage to enemies hit and marking them with spirit energy.
- Recast: End the curse, drawing back the spirit energy to herself, dealing magic damage to enemies passed through. Damage is increased by missing HP.
W – Across the Veil
- Hop in a direction. Upon landing, enter the spirit realm, briefly becoming Invisible and entering Spirit Mode for several seconds.
- Takedowns on enemy champions reset the cooldown of this ability.
As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent mastering various video games, I can confidently say that this character’s primary move is a game-changer. It allows players to showcase their creativity by dodging enemies in the most unexpected ways and setting up for devastating damage. Personally, I’ve found it to be an indispensable tool in my gaming arsenal, especially when trying to execute that perfect angle for her Q2 pull-back. The thrill of outmaneuvering opponents with this move is unmatched!
E – The Weirding
- Cast: Send out a blast of spirit magic, dealing magic damage in an area and slowing them.
- Aurora will hop backwards slightly on cast.
R – Between Worlds
- Cast: Hop forward and, upon landing, send out a pulse of spirit energy that deals magic damage and slows enemies.
- Aurora leaps in a direction of her choosing, releasing a shockwave that damages and slows any enemies it hits. Afterward, she creates an area that traps enemies within it and allows Aurora to teleport from one side of the area to the other.
- Recast: Dismiss the zone early

System Changes In LoL Patch 14.14
In this League of Legends update, there aren’t significant system adjustments. Riot Games is making adjustments to Absorb Life rune and Warmogs item due to their overperformance. Early in the game, Absorb Life has been excessively powerful, so Riot intends to redistribute some of its strength from the early stages into the later parts.
Riot Games plans to reduce Warmog’s Powerbroker’s effectiveness despite its current balance in the game. They aim to discourage supports from buying this item excessively, which is a trend Riot wants to halt.
- Absorb Life
- Healing: 2-20 (linear scaling) ⇒ 1-23 (following base stat progression) ( Note: This is a nerf levels 1-12 and a buff levels 13-18.)
- Warmogs Armor
- Warmog’s Heart Health Requirement: 1300 ⇒ 1500 bonus health
ARAM Balance Changes
Aram Nerfs
- Lulu: Shielding Done: 105% ⇒ 100%; Damage Dealt: 105% ⇒ 100%
