Red Swan K-drama episode 5 spoilers

In Episode 5 of Red Swan on Disney Plus, Oh Wan-Soo pondered over her past and the frequent gambling habits of her mother. During a visit to her mother in the mental health facility, she expressed regret for losing all their savings through gambling. Later in the episode, Wan-Soo’s mother tragically passed away, leaving her feeling isolated and grief-stricken.

Oh Wan-Soo grieves the loss of her mother

Wan-Soo remembered with a shudder how her mother would always hide whenever loan collectors visited their home, demanding repayment. Yet, her mom had secretly made plans for her daughter’s golfing future by arranging opportunities abroad. Following her mother’s death, Wan-Soo felt compelled to take action against Chairwoman Park Mi-Ran who had kept her mother captive in a psychiatric institution.

The next day, Mi-Ran requested that Wan-Soo join her at the gathering with the Chinese ambassadors to conclude the investment deal for the duty-free shop. But Wan-Soo was firm in her resolve to go to her mother’s funeral instead. Feeling pressured, Mi-Ran resorted to using threats. Ultimately, Wan-Soo chose to attend the meeting. In the meantime, Wan-Soo’s brother took care of arranging the funeral.

At the Chinese ambassador’s meeting, Mi-Ran’s proposal received a positive response. Following this encounter, Wan-Soo chose to arrange a respectful send-off for their mother. Upon receiving the ashes from his brother and noticing Mi-Ran present, Wan-Soo departed with Do-Yoon towards their childhood home, keeping her plans undisclosed to others.

Wan-Soo confided in her bodyguard Do-Yoon about the tragic loss of her son. He offered her comfort, allowing her to grieve. Yet, unbeknownst to them, a spy trailed behind, snapping photos and reporting back to the Chairwoman. Upon their return, Wan-Soo’s husband Yong-Guk angrily attacked Do-Yoon, suggesting their hidden relationship. Later, Mi-Ran warned her son to tread carefully if he wished to keep control of Hwain Group and conceal its money laundering scheme.

Oh Wan-Soo & Seo Do-Yoon grow closer

I couldn’t help but worry about Do-Yoon after her husband attacked her husband. He dragged her into the room, imploring her to stay with him. In contrast, I urged him to stand by my side and be a reliable ally. Do-Yoon shockingly disclosed information regarding Chairman Kim Duo’s suspected murder and the death of his friend during their investigation.

The two realized that it was highly likely that the same person behind these incidents might be out to kill Wan-Soo as well. However, Wan-Soo asked him to prove his suspicions about the person being a part of the Hwain Group. After an argument with security head Park Kyeong-Ju, he went to investigate the issue further.

Seo Do-Yoon begins his game plan

At the Eight Star gang’s casino, Do-Yoon attempted to encounter the boss, who deliberately appeared on the surveillance cameras before departing. Simultaneously, the boss alerted Park Kyeong-Ju about Do-Yoon’s presence. The next morning, when Kyeong-Ju encountered Do-Yoon, the latter became suspicious of the security chief’s involvement in Ju-Hyuk’s demise.

When Do-Yoon inquired about the suitcase given to him by Kyeong-Ju at the casino, Kyeong-Ju disclosed that it contained money which Yong-Guk had illegally converted. Later on, Do-Yoon uncovered the truth behind Chairman Kim Duo’s death: he passed away during an extramarital affair, but this was subsequently presented as a heart attack in his own home.

After making a pledge to seek justice for Ju-Hyuk, Do-Yoon departed, setting up an opportunity for Kyeong-Ju to be exposed if he was part of the scheme. In the darkness of night, he rendezvoused with Wan-Soo and shared all the details with her. Upon hearing this, Wan-Soo expressed astonishment and urged Do-Yoon to investigate Mr. Han, the one in charge of managing the conglomerate’s secret funds.

Before retiring for the night, Wan-Soo pondered over her interactions with Do-Yoon. The next day, she supported a cosmetics company that went public on the same day as Mi-Ran’s in-laws were pushing their brand during the Chinese business partnership. This led to an argument between Wan-Soo and her in-laws.
