As a huge fan of The Last of Us franchise, I’m absolutely thrilled to hear that Isabela Merced has been cast as Dina in The Last of Us Season 2! This role holds a special place in my heart since Dina was such a vital character in The Last of Us Part II.
Isabela Merced is opening up about her role as Dina in The Last of Us Season 2.
In January 2024, Merced was revealed as the actress set to portray Dina in The Last of Us Season 2. Previously, Shannon Woodward brought Dina to life in The Last of Us Part II. At the beginning of the game, Dina resides with Ellie at the Jackson settlement and is her romantic companion.
What did Isabela Merced say about Dina in The Last of Us Season 2?
In an interview with Total Film, Merced (who portrays Hawkgirl in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film) discussed Dina’s role in “The Last of Us” Season 2, explaining, “She brings a sense of hope and positivity to Ellie’s existence. It seems to be a common observation, as you’ll notice in the game itself, she is one of the few characters who experiences a relatively happy ending while most others suffer or meet unfortunate ends.”
In my own words as a fan, I can say, “I deeply resonate with her sentiment. There’s nothing more rewarding for me than being a source of comfort and joy for those around me. I find immense pleasure in making them laugh and helping them gain self-understanding. I’m always there to lend a hand in any situation. Dina seems very much aligned with my own personality. We both share a playful side, and I believe we would handle the apocalypse with similar grace if we were ever faced with it.”
In addition to Merced, The Last of Us Season 2 features Pedro Pascal portraying Joel Miller, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Rutina Wesley as Maria, Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, young Mazino as Jesse, Danny Ramirez as Manny, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, and Jeffrey Wright in the role of Isaac Dixon.
Catherine O’Hara has been cast in a secret role for the upcoming season of the popular HBO show.
A premiere date for The Last of Us 2 has not yet been announced.
