Kevin Conroy’s Final Batman Lines Revealed in Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part 3

Kevin Conroy’s Final Batman Lines Revealed in Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part 3

As a huge fan of Kevin Conroy and his iconic portrayal of Batman, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of nostalgia and sadness as I watch him deliver his final lines in Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part 3. Conroy brought the Caped Crusader to life for me during my childhood with his voice acting in Batman: The Animated Series, and his performance continued to inspire and captivate me throughout the years.

I have been a huge fan of Kevin Conroy since his iconic portrayal of Batman in the animated series from the late 80s and 90s. His voice acting brought the Dark Knight to life in a way that resonated with me and countless others. So, it’s bittersweet to learn that the final lines he spoke as Batman have been unveiled.

Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part 3 features Kevin Conroy’s last Batman performance

In the third part of Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths, Conroy portrays Batman/Bruce Wayne from Earth-12, very similar to the DCAU (Dini-Timm animated universe). Alongside Hamill’s Joker, Conroy’s Batman states, “I care, Joker, about Gotham, about justice. And if it comes down to this… I’d rather die as Batman.”

In the rooftop of a building in Gotham, Earth-12, the event unfolds as an antimatter wave sweeps through the universe. Amidst this apocalyptic backdrop, The Joker attempts to surprise Batman but is thwarted by the Caped Crusader’s quick reflexes. Unfazed, The Joker chuckles and quips, “You really want to spend the end of the world with me? I had no idea you held such fond feelings.” This elicits Batman’s response.

If Kevin Conroy’s portrayal of Batman must come to a close, then let it be in these terms – “Should it be my last act… then I’d prefer to depart from this world… as Batman.” #CrisisOnTheInfiniteEarths3

In “Batman: The Animated Series” (1992-1995), Conroy lent his voice to both Bruce Wayne and Batman for the first time, later reprising the role in various other projects within the DC Animated Universe and animated TV shows and video games. Additionally, Conroy made a live-action appearance as Earth-99’s Bruce Wayne during an episode of “Batwoman” (2019-2022), which marked his final on-screen performance.

I was deeply saddened to learn that Conroy lost his battle with intestinal cancer on November 10, 2022. At the age of 66, he left us too soon in a hospital.

As a gamer, I’ve been following the journey of Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill’s iconic characters in animated series for years. In Crisis on Infinite Earths Part 3, we witness Hamill’s last performance as the Joker. Since Batman: The Animated Series began, these two talented actors have brought their characters to life together. After Conroy sadly passed away, Hamill made a heartfelt announcement that he would no longer voice the Clown Prince of Crime.

Hamill expressed that his collaboration with Kevin was reminiscent of the classic duo Laurel and Hardy. In my absence, it feels as if Batman is incomplete without him.
