As a huge fan of both Timothée Chalamet and unique cinematic experiences, I’m absolutely thrilled to learn about his upcoming role in “Marty Supreme,” a captivating new project by A24 and director Josh Safdie. The fact that Chalamet will portray the legendary ping pong player Marty Reisman is not only intriguing but also a testament to the depth and diversity of his acting talent.
Timothée Chalamet stars in an upcoming film from A24 called “Marty Supreme,” where he plays the lead role. This movie, helmed by Josh Safdie, centers around the sport of ping pong.
I, an avid fan, excitedly anticipate Marty Supreme witnessing the brilliant performances of both Willy Wonka and Paul Atreides in “Wonka and Dune: Part 2.” Among these remarkable actors will be none other than Marty Reisman, a real-life ping pong virtuoso. Since the tender age of twelve, this exceptional talent dedicated his passion to mastering the art of table tennis.
In Manhattan, Reisman earned his living as a ping pong hustler, competing for wagers and prizes. His skills eventually brought him success at various World Table Tennis Championship tournaments. Later, he teamed up with Douglas Cartland to entertain audiences with a humorous table tennis act for the Harlem Globetrotters. In 1974, Reisman penned an autobiographical novel. He sadly passed away in 2012 at the age of 82.
A24 has released the first poster for Marty Supreme in an X post, which can be viewed below:

What else do we know about Marty Supreme?
According to Variety, the movie “Marty Supreme” is penned by Safdie and Bronstein. These two filmmakers are not only responsible for the script but also producing the film in collaboration with Eli Bush and Anthony Katagas.
Previously, Timothée Chalamet hinted at a secret project linked to ping pong. In an interview with Josh Horowitz for MTV, released in December 2023, he mentioned, “I can tell you it’s about ping pong.” When probed if it was a Balls of Fury remake or similar, Chalamet replied, “No, no, no, no. Something entirely new and distinct.”
Josh Safdie has collaborated with his brother on several films before, such as “Good Time” from 2017 featuring Robert Pattinson and “Uncut Gems” released in 2019 starring Adam Sandler. Currently, they were preparing for another project with Sandler, but its progress is uncertain as it was reportedly put on hold in January 2024.
A release date for Marty Supreme has not yet been announced by A24.
