I’ve been keeping an eye on gaming news lately, and recently some intriguing screenshots have surfaced, allegedly from BioShock 4. These aren’t confirmed by the developers yet, but they appear in a 2021 demo reel labeled “Parkside.” You might remember that name from 2019, when some industry insiders hinted at a new BioShock game taking place in a fictional 1960s Antarctic city called Borealis.

Breaking Down The Image

The screenshot offers a peek at the game’s user interface, displaying a hint of a fresh weapon: the Ricochet Shotgun. It looks like the new game, BioShock Infinite 2, could enable players to equip three distinct weapons instead of just two in its predecessor. This arrangement may allow for a more diverse setup, potentially consisting of a main weapon, a sidearm, and a heavier option for dealing with challenging adversaries.

New Gameplay Twists?

In this leak, the standard meters for Plasmids and Vigors are not observable; instead, there are only icons present. These abilities might function differently from before, possibly operating on a recharge system like in numerous contemporary games. Additionally, there’s a novel meter featuring an hourglass symbol, which may allude to new mechanics, potentially dealing with time manipulation. Imagine the ability to halt or decelerate time during combat.

The Iconic Lighthouse

From a distance, there’s an structure that appears to be a lighthouse, or at least bears a strong resemblance to one. Its height may not be impressive, or perhaps it seems smaller due to the player’s perspective in the game. However, what catches the eye is the beacon of light atop it, making it appear significant and potentially serving as a passageway to new realms, much like in BioShock Infinite.
