5 movies leaving Netflix in July 2024

As a dedicated gamer and movie enthusiast with a soft spot for Netflix, I can’t help but feel a pang of sadness when I see movies slipping away from my go-to streaming platform. July 2024 is no exception as some beloved titles are set to depart, leaving us scrambling to catch them before they vanish into the ether.

I’m excited to share that I have a few more days to enjoy some fantastic movies currently streaming on Netflix, but their time there is coming to an end in July 2024. If you’re still searching for something new and engaging to watch, I strongly recommend checking out this list before these gems depart for other streaming platforms. Let’s make the most of the remaining days and savor every moment with these brilliant movies on Netflix!

As someone who has been a dedicated Netflix user for years, I can tell you from my personal experience that the streaming platform is always keeping things fresh with new movies added every month. However, it’s important to note that not all of these additions are permanent.

I’m glad to share that only a handful of blockbuster films are departing from Netflix in July. However, it wouldn’t hurt to re-watch a few of them before they go, as they’re truly worth another look.

Let’s get the list started with one of the most popular movies on Netflix right now, Shrek!

Shrek

Last day to watch: July 31

Is there someone who hasn’t enjoyed the classic animated comedy Shrek? With the announcement of Shrek 5, due for release in summer 2026, now might be a great time to revisit this beloved franchise on Netflix.

In the movie “Shrek,” an ogre named Shrek embarks on a journey to locate Princess Fiona, save her from the clutches of a dragon, and then transport her to Lord Farquaad as his promised bride. As compensation, Farquaad agrees to let Shrek reside peacefully in his swamp without any botheration.

Currently, only the initial Shrek film is available for streaming on Netflix. However, if you’re in the mood for a Shrek movie marathon, look for the other instalments on alternative streaming platforms.

Knocked Up

Last day to watch: July 31

I absolutely love the movie “Knocked Up” featuring Seth Rogen. Sadly, it’s set to leave Netflix by the end of this month.

Rogen features in the movie alongside Katherine Heigl, Leslie Mann, Paul Rudd, Jason Segel, Jonah Hill, Jay Baruchel, and Martin Starr. In this film, Alison (Heigl) and Ben (Rogen) cross paths at a bar during an evening out. Consequences ensue, resulting in Alison becoming pregnant. The pair then strive to maintain their relationship while Alison prepares for the arrival of their baby.

As a busy mom of three young kids, I absolutely adore the comedic duo that is “Knocked Up” and “This Is 40.” These movies have become my go-to for a relaxing movie night at home. With “Knocked Up” readily available on Netflix, it’s easy to access, but you might need to rent or buy “This Is 40” elsewhere.

The Matrix

Last day to watch: July 31

I can’t miss watching “The Matrix” whenever it’s streaming on Netflix. It’s amazing to revisit this classic film and be reminded of Keanu Reeves’ enduring charm, 25 years after its release.

Currently, you can find all four “Matrix” films, including “The Matrix,” “Matrix Reloaded,” “The Matrix Revisions,” and the latest addition “The Matrix Resurrections,” on Netflix. However, regretfully, the first three installments will be taken down from the platform by July 31. The recently released “The Matrix Resurrections” will continue to be available for now.

Time is running out for that last Matrix marathon on Netflix!

Role Models

Last day to watch: July 31

Paul Rudd and Seann William Scott feature in the film “Role Models.” In this production, they portray grown-ups mandated by the law to join a Big Brothers-Big Sisters-like initiative. However, their experience does not go smoothly.

“Role Models” is an amusing and lighthearted comedy film streaming on Netflix that’s worth checking out. If you haven’t seen it yet, I strongly recommend giving it a spin. Its humor style is reminiscent of other R-rated comedies produced during the late 2010s. Paul Rudd delivers an excellent performance in this movie as well.

300: Rise of an Empire

Last day to watch: July 31

If you’ve already finished Zack Snyder’s “Rebel Moon” series or are looking for something similar to watch before the R-rated cuts become available, consider checking out “300.” This film, directed by Snyder, is being removed from Netflix on July 31. It’s a must-watch for Snyder fans and offers a captivating experience, even if it’s not my personal favorite.

In an exciting tale, a action-packed movie recounts the valiant efforts of the 300 Spartan soldiers as they strive to prevent the Persian army from advancing during the Battle of Thermopylae. This story is also inspired by Frank Miller’s graphic novel series carrying the same name.

I promise there are no wheat harvesting scenes!

In July, these are the movies you won’t want to miss. Look forward to more new movie and show releases coming in August.
