5 best movies leaving Netflix in October 2024

As a dedicated gamer and cinephile with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the news about numerous fan-favorite movies departing from Netflix by the end of October 2024 has left me feeling like I’ve just encountered an unexpected Game Over screen.

I don’t want to scare you before Halloween, but quite a few popular films that we enjoy on Netflix may disappear by the end of October 2024. As you know, movies often join and leave Netflix frequently, so while a significant number of titles are leaving this month, remember that this is part of the cycle – some might reappear in later months.

Over the past month, films such as “Divergent,” “Fifty Shades of Grey,” “A Walk to Remember,” and “The Breakfast Club” bid farewell from our screens, and this month continues the trend with popular movies like “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” “Crazy Rich Asians,” “It Follows,” “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” and many more exiting Netflix. More titles are set to follow suit.

If you’re planning a Chucky movie marathon this Halloween, you’re in for a treat! You can catch them just in time, as well as other popular films that are about to leave Netflix. Here’s your final chance to enjoy five top-notch movies set to depart from Netflix in October 2024!

Chucky movies

Don’t miss your chance to watch all the “Chucky” movies on Netflix! The last day to stream Bride of Chucky, Child’s Play 2, Child’s Play 3, Cult of Chucky, Curse of Chucky, and Seed of Chucky is October 31st.

Six films featuring the iconic character Chucky are set to depart from Netflix post-Halloween, providing an excellent chance for horror enthusiasts to enjoy a thrilling marathon at home during the spooky season, ideally spent with companions.

Should you find yourself unable to catch the movie “Chucky”, fear not! There’s a plethora of spine-tingling horror films available on Netflix for your viewing pleasure. Among them are “Halloween”, “Scream 5”, “It Chapter Two”, “Evil Dead Rise”, and many more chilling titles!

Identity Thief

The popular comedy film “Identity Thief,” starring Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy, which was released in 2013, will no longer be available on Netflix as of November 1.

On several occasions, the film has been both included and excluded from the streaming platform. This pattern makes us optimistic that it might return in the future. Each time it reappears, the movie swiftly climbs to the highest-viewed films list.

Regardless of how many times you’ve watched it, you always find yourself wanting more of the hilarious odd-pair antics courtesy of the main actors’ spot-on comedic delivery. Make sure to catch Identity Thief one final time before it disappears from Netflix.

Jack Reacher

Tom Cruise action films often swiftly climb to the top 10 list when they’re added to Netflix. Sadly, the run of Jack Reacher ends on Halloween.

On October 31st, both “Jack Reacher” (2012) and “Jack Reacher: Never Go Back” (2016) will depart, marking the temporary end of our encounters with the enigmatic military police investigator until he reappears on Netflix again.

The popular action film starring Cruise titled “Edge of Tomorrow” will also be removed from the streaming platform on November 6. So, if you’re a fan of his blockbuster hits, don’t forget to watch them both back-to-back as soon as possible!

La La Land

On Halloween yet again, the whimsical film “La La Land” disappears from our Netflix watchlists, making a temporary exit.

This film isn’t traditionally considered a Halloween movie, but for those who aren’t fans of Halloween or prefer avoiding spooky content, it makes an excellent alternative choice for your viewing pleasure at this very moment.

Emma Stone received her first Academy Award for her role in the contemporary hit musical comedy-drama “La La Land,” which is always an enjoyable movie to watch. However, starting November 1st, it won’t be available on Netflix, so it’s best to catch it before then.

Sonic the Hedgehog

In September 2024, when the 2020 film “Sonic the Hedgehog” debuted on Netflix, it quickly skyrocketed to popularity and consistently ranked among the top 10 most-watched films.

The Jim Carrey and James Marsden-led family comedy movie was extremely successful on cinema screens as well as streaming platforms, resulting in a sequel released in 2022 and another film set for release in theaters this December.

It would be great if we could watch all three of those movies simultaneously on Netflix someday. However, enjoy one more family night watching Sonic the Hedgehog as it will leave the streaming platform by November 1.
