33-year-old Kannada comedian Rakesh Poojary passes away at friend’s mehendi ceremony

33-year-old Rakesh Poojary, renowned for his work on Comedy Khiladigalu, tragically passed away early on May 11, 2025. During that time, he was participating in a mehendi ceremony of a friend in the Karkala region of Karnataka. Sadly, he suffered from a sudden heart attack and lost his life.

Initial findings indicate that Rakesh unexpectedly fell to the ground and couldn’t be resuscitated. Despite immediate transportation to the closest hospital, he was declared deceased upon arrival and unfortunately couldn’t be brought back.

For those not familiar, Rakesh gained popularity following his successful run on the third season of Kannada’s comedy-based reality show, Comedy Khiladigalu, in 2020. His unique style and performances quickly captured the audience’s attention.

He was also a part of its season 2, where he emerged as the second runner-up. 

Rakesh’s journey into the world of performing arts began when he became a member of the well-known theater group, Chaitanya Kalavidaru, which laid his foundation for comedy. His debut on the Tulu reality show, Kadali Baje, also catapulted him to great fame and made him a familiar face in many homes.

The artist is known to have overcome many obstacles and difficulties on their journey to achieving such a lofty position. In fact, Rakesh has openly shared that it took him going through 150 auditions spanning quite some time before he managed to secure his place at the pinnacle.
