3 things Bold and the Beautiful should avoid with the new Taylor Hayes

As a seasoned gamer of daytime soap operas, I’ve seen more twists and turns than a rollercoaster ride at Six Flags. The latest revelation on The Bold and the Beautiful about Dr. Taylor Hayes returning to our screens has left me with a mix of excitement and trepidation.

On the hit show “The Bold and the Beautiful,” the enigma surrounding the female character has finally been resolved! As many speculated, she turns out to be Dr. Taylor Hayes, portrayed by four-time Daytime Emmy nominee Rebecca Budig. However, the announcement has sparked a diverse response among viewers, who are grappling with Krista Allen’s exit from the series and the introduction of another actress stepping into the shoes of the esteemed medical professional.

To put it plainly, despite the impressive performance by Allen that quickly swayed doubters into her corner last time, history shows us that when Taylor returns, it often leads to similar outcomes: Taylor getting hurt again in a failed reunion with Ridge, followed by another departure from the cast. So, we’re all bracing ourselves to see if this cycle repeats itself.

To ensure we don’t find ourselves repeating past mistakes with Taylor, it’s crucial that the writers steer clear of similar patterns.

1. A Tridge romance (unless they’re going to actually do Tridge)

It’s tough on fans who root for Taylor and Ridge as a couple in ‘The Bold and the Beautiful.’ Time and again, it appears the show is about to give them a chance, only for something unexpected to happen. In their latest attempt at marriage, they almost made it to the altar, but when it was disclosed that Thomas manipulated Child Protective Services against Brooke, Ridge called off the wedding with Taylor.

During their reunion and engagement, she kept inquiring if his decision to marry wasn’t influenced by anything Brooke had done. He consistently reassured her that he was marrying because of his own choice and love for her. However, the truth eventually surfaced, revealing that he was hastily getting married as a response. After some introspection, Ridge discovered that Taylor and Brooke had already pledged to keep him at bay before he could return.

In the gaming world, I found myself caught between two strong allies, let’s call them Brooke and Ridge. The bond we shared seemed unbreakable, but then a mysterious force drew both of them towards me. It wasn’t long before the tension became palpable, and the friendship we once cherished started to crack.

As a devoted fan, I find myself reflecting on the current state of the beloved trio: Ridge, Taylor, and Brooke. It feels dishonest for the soap opera to attempt to lure us into a complex triangle at this point. You see, I was once a staunch Tridge shipper, believing Ridge would ultimately choose Taylor over Brooke due to their past connection. However, as time went on, it became clear that Bridge was destined to be reunited. Now, after Ridge’s recent heartfelt declaration of Brooke as the love of his life, it seems unlikely that he is contemplating the strength of his bond with her.

Taylor often finds herself as the third wheel in this love triangle, and it’s futile to hope for Tridge to reconnect if they aren’t going to take their relationship to the next level. We’re fed up with watching the same romantic scenario unfold time and again. Although the storyline changes, the ending has remained the same for years. If Tridge isn’t committed to making their relationship last for a substantial period of time (let’s say more than several months), then, in terms of romance, they should be given some space.

2. The Braylor friendship

It’s clear that, much like numerous other viewers, I was surprised by the Braylor friendship as it unfolded within the narrative. Admittedly, there were moments when it appeared they were developing a connection reminiscent of typical romantic storylines, but Katherine Kelly Lang and Krista Allen share an undeniable chemistry, making any direction the soap opera chose to take their relationship intriguing…to a certain extent. Nevertheless, there was an obvious obstacle that could not be ignored: Ridge.

It became clear that the two women’s romantic connections would be revisited by the authors, which ultimately led to their friendship disintegrating. The discord was intense, filled with shouting, tears, and accusations of betrayal and hypocrisy. Their once nurtured bond crumbled like a fragile structure. To put it bluntly, we’d rather avoid revisiting that time because of the deep-seated pain that exists between them due to their hurtful words and actions over the years. And, let’s be honest, there was a significant amount of resentment involved.

Brooke finds it uncomfortable when Taylor is present, as it serves as a constant reminder that another woman shares a part of Ridge’s affection. Despite his assertions, this is an undeniable truth. Unlike any man in Brooke’s life, Ridge possesses a love that mirrors her “destiny.” This has caused pain and strife between them. Because of these feelings, a lasting friendship between Braylor would always be tenuous.

3. Having nothing for Taylor to do

As a psychiatrist, Taylor finds it challenging to fit into the glamorous social circle of her family, which often limits her involvement in certain storylines on The Bold and the Beautiful, primarily those not focused on romance. However, we now have two medical professionals on set, so if she were assigned to work at the hospital, there might be opportunities for her to participate in storylines that take place within a hospital setting. For instance, if a murder mystery unfolds, her professional expertise could prove valuable in solving it.

As someone who has been involved with soaps for many years, I strongly believe that Taylor should remain a part of the show. She often misses out on crucial moments when her family or children are in need, which can lead to her being written off again. However, this recasting presents an excellent opportunity to reinvent her character and have her play a more significant role. If done right, it could bring a fresh perspective and add depth to the storylines. I truly hope that the writers make use of this chance and give Taylor a meaningful presence on the show, as she has a lot to offer.
